Not growing up

Old folk dwell in all of usJust waiting to break freeOld folk dwell in all of usInside of you and me They take their time to show themselvesMaybe Fifty or Sixty yearsThey play games with your memoryExaggerate your fears They can make your legs go wobblyMake your back go weakThey can sometimes make you dribbleMake your bladder leak You could take up motorcyclingOr abseil down a mountainRide a unicycleOr Dance naked in a fountain Don’t give in, to these old peopleYou should do just like I didRefuse to grow old gracefullyKeep acting like a kid  Don’t let the buggers get youKeep acting like a pupKeep on growing oldBut, try never to grow up

You’re a riot, and since I

You're a riot, and since I left my previous life as a Reator, I often caregive for older folks (some are younger) the eldest was 103. Love your poem... Why don't make a flyer and take it to all the senior citizens/assisted living facilities. I know many around here... IDEA? ~A

I’m nearly 60 and my kids

I'm nearly 60 and my kids keep telling me that I should grow up, so I sold my old motorcycle and bought a new one, maybe get a chopper next year. My Dad is 87 and refuses to go to the local senior citizens clubs as he says "they are full of old people". It seems to me that some people get old at a very young age, while others stay young until they are quite old. If you think it will put a smile on someones face then feel free to use it. Thanks for your kind comments, glad you enjoyed this one. John

Mind and body

How is it the mind can be so young yet the body be so old? Get the chopper man ! If I had the resources I certainly would, but then again I'm not sure if I'm young enough LOL Man thinks this.

Mark I’m Not sure if

Mark I'm Not sure if I'll have the money for a chop next year, but I'll sure as hell give it a go. My son's getting married in Las Vegas next year so I'm going to have to pay for 4 people (wife, daughter, granddaughter and myself) which will not be cheap (about £4000.00). My motto is "Go for it, whats the worst that can happen. so get yourself a bike, start small and work your way up and to hell with what other people think. John I told my wife that I feel like a teenager, she said I cant have one.

Shaz

While hysterical, this poem has an excellent message. Just don't let it fester into a Peter-Pan complex! "I told my wife I feel like a teenager, she said I can't have one...." LMFAO! ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- "Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them and you have their shoes."

Ever young

This poem reminded me of one or two people I know. My wife, for a start, goes to a gym every day (as I should do) and is incredibly fit for her age (which I can't disclose, but it's not far off yours). Then I have a friend who goes on boozing and joking and running after the ladies even though he's sixty-nine (he says he doesn't need Viagra yet) - I suppose he doesn't act like a kid exactly - more like a permanent nineteen-year-old. And I also know a retired school teacher from Arizona who keeps on jogging, doing batiks and learning languages. I suppose such energy is in their genes. I'm afraid my case is different. When I go for walks I am sometimes overtaken by ladies who look as if they are about 85, so there's not much hope for my physique. Perhaps your poem will persuade me to be a bit younger at heart, at least. By the way, it was just as funny as your others. Best wishes, Robert.

two for one comments - what, I'm lazy!

Robert - Mmmm, I disagree with the physique part. Slow and steady dedication will yield good results. Jon and I just do simple stretching, push-ups, and we ice-skate. That is enough for us, and he's actually toning up somewhat. You don't have to go to the gym, and go crazy nuts with the exercises. Sometimes simple is better. John - something daring, eh? Adrenaline pumping? Well, since skydiving is out - try going on some of the rides at a local amusement park!! I have a strong stomach, and yet there are a couple rides at the Six Flags that can get even ME to turn green, and send my heart into my throat! :~) ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- - "Does Rudolph fail the safety inspection if his nose is burnt out? And where does he go? I don't think he'd fit in the bay at the Jiffy Lube." Happy holidays, y'all!

My dad is eighty seven and

My dad is eighty seven and still behaves like a teenager at times, he has chronic asthma but refuses to let it get him down, whereas my father in law just sits and vegetates in front of the tv. I'm looking for something exciting to do for my brother in laws 50th birthday, it was going to be a parachute jump but my stepson refused to do it (and he is ex army) so any suggestions on an activity that will get the adrenalin coursing through the veins would be welcome. Glad this one made you smile, and think a bit. Regards John

In reply to infinite_dwarf

I'm not sure about ice-skating because I have a terrible sense of balance, but I might try the stretching and the push-ups...well, just for a few minutes... Best wishes, Robert.
