Stargazer's Guide

The Hunter hunts in winter,
And the Lion prowls in spring;
The Scorpion rules summer,
Then the Flying Horse takes wing!

Indeed I did!

Winter is my favorite season, in part because the night skies are the clearest. I don't think you need to change a thing. This would be excellent for children. When are you going to start that Sky & Telescope feature?

Thanks! And I enjoy your picturing of night falling like a guillotine--a provocative image indeed. Draco snakes huge across the heaven Little bear beneath his tail Not too prominent Serpentine

Starstruck

I read this poem in the morning with the grey snow-filled cloud curtaining the drama of the night sky beyond, that clear bright starlit firmament out there so mysteriously deep yet near. The greatest depth of feeling alive is maybe when we see the whole sky above us and wonder. You too like the short poems of the east I expect? Ann of Norway.

Short Poems

I think I produce short poems mainly for humorous effect or as mnemonic devices; this one was to help me remember the main constellation of each season. Though I have enjoyed Tennyson and Frost perhaps above all, I do like poetry of all kinds, including haiku and tonkas. Thanks!
