Wal-Mart Disco Queen
I once met a Wal-Mart disco queen,
she wore blue eyeshadow and penciled-in brows,
under the silver ball
she moved like a dream
shopping cart in her hand
a smile on her face
that should have been set to music,
even if she was
wearing the mask of
a Welcome-to-Wal-Mart sign.
I tried not to shop there when I heard about them
(the white-starched blue shirts in expensive business suits)
suing that poor woman for insurance pay-back
then I
think if Wal-Mart closes down
as it perhaps should
just
where would my Disco Queen dance?
and for whom?
I never know what to do in real life
when I think about it.
she wore blue eyeshadow and penciled-in brows,
under the silver ball
she moved like a dream
shopping cart in her hand
a smile on her face
that should have been set to music,
even if she was
wearing the mask of
a Welcome-to-Wal-Mart sign.
I tried not to shop there when I heard about them
(the white-starched blue shirts in expensive business suits)
suing that poor woman for insurance pay-back
then I
think if Wal-Mart closes down
as it perhaps should
just
where would my Disco Queen dance?
and for whom?
I never know what to do in real life
when I think about it.
