Obama Is President-Elect

Andrew Young speaks
after all these years
his wounds have been cleansed..
Jesse Jackson wept
without pride
or shame

thank you President Bush,
without you
(probably)
none of this
would have happened

nonduality

is experienced on the
global stage in the
economic market of
fair exchange.

great day in USA...

Martin Luther King will be dancing in his grave now...the dream has come true. this is a new America... the Latinos, native and Asian Americans can now raise their head in Pride and say,YES WE CAN... I saw Oprah shed tears...tears are loved when they are for joy...no shame. akabeks

Timely, timely ...

I was wonderin'---idly, of course---when someone'd first mention (albeit indirectly) Obama's win at neopoet. I can now say that for the first time in my life I will feel truly represented by an American president (Kennedy being sometimes a close second). My tears surged at sight of Jackson's. They surged again at sight of others' crying. And so many of them. And I refer both to tears and to individuals that spill them down their faces. Tears of relief, of joy. In terms of feelings, I join with the world, a one that so needs relief. It's been too long. Thanx, Chuck

Anna

There is no way I'm clicking that link at work. From the sound of it, I'd be a blubbering mess after watching it - will save that for home. Couldn't watch any of the coverage last night, either. Just waited until I woke up this morning to a new world. Thank you for writing this. I'm sure there are many people sharing your thoughts this morning. ~ Ronda

All I can say is

no matter what our political feelings over it is, we need to now unite and try to make sure things are done in Washington. It was a great election and a victory for a lot of things and proof that America has come a long way since the civil rights movement. Something everyone can be proud of. Now, let's see what is done. I have deep respect for

I have deep respect for McCain's concession speech. It has been an amazing 24 hours. I know that he wasn't the candidate of your choice Rett, and so I appreciate your graceful comments. ~A

We are Americans. Different views, but like the family that fuss

with each other, in the end we will stand together against all comers. It is up to us to make sure everything works. All should be proud, for or against! Respectfully, Rett: "Life is like a beach. Salty, gritty, somewhat fishy and at other times, downright crabby" Rett: 2008

Sometimes tears flow.

Sometimes tears flow. Just because you've been standing at the back of the bus too long, and you don't remember the grassroots of your home for they had stolen your name and called you "boy"... Sometimes tears flow now you can sit next to the girl with the pretty blue eyes at the lunch counter and if you should happen to fall in love, no one will snicker or call it a sin... whip you until your skin weeps and is made to feel shame Sometimes tears flow because now you stand on the backs of greater men and women who made a path for you with their own blood, sweat and tears. Sometimes you weep because you see others weep. ~A

hello

Last night we witnessed a nation make history. we can't disscuss a man till we see him in action. I say we unite behind him and rebuild the land of oppurtunity. Republicans , Democrats and others are seperate ideaologies but at the end of the day we are still America.

I know Anna, me too

The darn church has been so corrupt. How can ya really seperate the two if you have like a Catholic president or whatever religion? Mark Man thinks this.

The main reason there has not been a true seperation

As there was never intended to be a total separation of church and state. It is only meant to preclude and forbid the state from designating a religion as England did with it's kings. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." This doesn't require prayer in school or in public building, but it also does not prohibit the practice there of. I personally don't care if they pray or not pray. It is everyone's right to do so or not do so. It does not mean religious people have the right to impose their belief nor does it give non religious persons the right to deny that right to them. Just my take is all. No argument. BTW, I agree on the corruption of the church. It is why I don't go. Respectfully, Rett: "Life is like a beach.
