Down To Zero

We've gone for several weeks now
not seeing one another for
five, six, eleven days at a time
finally that is to end.
As I drive up to meet you
my excitement will keep playing in my mind
smiling with the image
of throwing my arms around you.

I'll fly through the night
through four states
towards you
and even though it's a seven hour drive
it will seem like a lifetime.
These last few hours apart
will be the longest
ever.

Till then, I'll tap my fingers
tap my foot
look at my watch every half minute
dream of you
and count those 17 hours
down to zero.....

AHHH! True Love!

Jess, you warm an old man's heart with your devotion to your husband! I just pray that I can inspire an ounce of that same feeling in someone else before I give up the ghost! May you both walk hand in hand through life for many more years!

Never drive faster than your Guardian Angel can fly...love ya babe! Be safe! <3 Emarie @~~~~~~~@~~~~~~~@~~~~~~~@~~~~~~~@~~~~~~~@~~~~~~~@~~~~~~~@~~~~~~~@~~~~~~~@~~~~~~~@ "For every shadow, no matter it's depth, is threatened by the morning's light..."

For those in love do so feel it

Reading your poem, although I know it is structured, feels like your thoughts pouring onto the page, unfettered by the thought filtering process, open and heart felt. It is a memory that many of us cherish and remember with fondness even through the pain of separation. Oft times it is separation that brings us closer, as with so many lessons in life they seem to be contradictory but bring us the greatest understanding. Well done Jess.

Thank you!

Trip was a success - got to NY safe and sound! Thank you to all who read and commented. We've since completed the move, and now we're just unpacking and organizing. Emarie, that was excellent advise, and I have to remember that one!! I think it was more the fear of night time critters coming out than anything, which kept my speed in check... That, and New Jersey State Troopers are pretty non-relenting - so if you get nailed, you're gettin' a ticket! Besides, with out of state plates, I was a target anyway. Why give 'em a reason? LOL!! Thanks again, all! ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"When I was strong, strong in the sound thought I'd see when day was done. Now I'm weaker than the palest blue Oh so weak in this need for you" - Nick Drake

Jess

Nice, Ahhh to be in love, such a lovely part of life. I felt the strong emotional ties you have to each other... Glad you didn't get any tickets... Patty

Somehow I missed this Jess

and I am sorry I did. The yearning and need come through strongly my friend! Respectfully, Rett: "Life is like a beach. Salty, gritty, somewhat fishy and at other times, downright crabby" Rett: 2008
