The Zennith of Zen

 Every moment;

Every minuscule fraction

Of every second

Threads the eye of consciousness

In one continuous continuum.

Sparked by birth,

The lamp of senses

Is set alight

The burning, crackling flame of now

Consumes time

Like a black hole does to  light.

The power of the present

Deep and intense

Is the source of sun

Hi Leonard...

a great poem... one I seem to have missed... and I wonder how that is possible with such an interesting title... oh well, the guys at work say I'm getting senile... Only one suggestion... infinitesmal... I trip on this every time... probably just my old self... but I thought something else might say it without the trip-up... like... minished or minuted ... might just be personal preference here to... I never know... because if the writer can read it aloud without the pause... or gathering of grammar that I am going through then he/she should not change it... but if you are wanting your reader to "get" the flow of the poem as easily as you, then.... maybe... In either case it is a wonderful poem with the power of sun's light to warm one in the present moment... yes... liked it very much... Richard

Leo,

the zenith of zen is the understanding of all under the Sun and all beneath the five earths. From birth we in that simplistic state understand all that makes us one with the universe, but as you wrote: "The burning, crackling flame of now Consumes time Like a black hole does to light." as we grow in knowledge we seem to complicate what is simple, and there in miss all the heavenly glory. So when we arrive at the cross road of our life we begin to try and find that which is simplistic. we then benefit from the original source. Let us not go into death without experiencing the power of the present light! Very well written, bringing enlightenment to the question of who we are. thanks, Eddie "do like the once barren tree: flourish and like the planted seed: rise" Jose De Diego
