Cockles and Mussels

 “Cockles and Mussels”

The street vendor cries

There’s another one selling

Muffins and pies

"Lord luv ya Guvnor"

He says as you pay

Then wrapped up in paper

You take it away

If you want to sit down

Get some relief

In the Jewish café’

With their Bagels and Beef

Hot chestnuts, fresh veg

Smoked Kippers and Meat

You can find it all

On an East London Street.

Ian, sadly London is no longer the place that I remember, Petticoat Lane is now more like a Bombay Bazaar. We went back last year and stayed at The Savoy (expensive but very nice) I couldn't get over the cost of public transport, we found it cheaper to go everywhere by cab. I think I appreciate living in the country even more now. Regards John
