Shattered Crystal 3

Shattered Crystal 3
Heir to the Secret

"My son, through one of the crystals I learned!
Now I pass this knowledge on to you.
Guard it well my son, for no others know of this.
I could not bring myself to tell them
Lest I be cast out as ensorcelled,
But I say thee nay! I am sane
And these words are truth!

Long ago, a fair race walked these lands,
People of high intelligence
Always searching for answers.

Somehow, they discovered great power,
Power beyond anyone's dreams.
Power that came from the very universe,
Power that could be captured in crystals.

The people grew in both knowledge and power,
Their lives became Idyllic,
No more suffering,
No more hunger.

In time they grew bored and
Some reached outward
Toward places never seen,
Seeking to unravel the mysteries
Of this strange universe.

Some reached inward,
So far inward they opened another reality,
A reality where everything was distorted.
Where the mind could not dwell.
Where the very intellect fled in terror!

And then came madness as these realities
Were allowed to escape!
The people could not cope.
At first they fled in panic,
Then they banded together.

They fought, oh how they fought!
Striving to contain what they had unleashed
Till, at last, in desperation,
they unleashed all their power
And the power ran rampant!
It destroyed all in its path
And the people were no more,
But there were portals.
Portals left by those others,
The people that looked outward.
Dying, these were never closed.

Thus came we here my son.
Fleeing from the armies of the Saxons,
Hunted near to death,
Our elders found one of these portals,
Thus we escaped our enemies.

But all is not well my son,
There are things here.
Things not meant
For our kind to deal with.
Beware my son, beware.
Keep our people safe if you can."

this is awesome

And so close to the the truth about humanity that it hurts. Very well done. I wait with bated breath to see this story come out in its entirety. Well? What are you waiting for? GO! LMAO!! Truly nice work, Rett. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"The fortunes of fables are able To see the dawn Now witness the quickness with which We get along To sing the blues you've got to live the dues and Carry on." - CSN&Y

If you will spit the bait out

and gargle, you won't have to wait with "baited"(bated is what you wrote, but I had to have some fun) breath. Actually, once in a while I have flashes of idiocy that comes up with something like this that drives me insane til I do something about it. Glad you liked it. mmmmm Insight or nutter

Insight. I jest with you my bearded American fellow. The inward journey is fraught with the danger of insanity for most, luckily some of us were crazy before we started so the only way is up (or is it in, deeper in lol) Anyway great writing and too near the truth for our species I feel.

Thanks Andy

I may be a bit of bothe. Maybe insight or nutter. I am a man of contrasts. A liberal turned conservative, a dreamer with his feet planted in reality, a christian with friends in many faiths and non believers. An ex hippy and some other things in my youth I won't mention. Most of this is pure fantasy, but a little bit of prophesy integrated into it. I am a science fiction/fantasy/history/car/science/carpenter and computer nut all roled into one. It gets crowded inside me sometimes. *ROFLMAO* Glad you liked it. Thank you my Welsh friend from an odd old bearded Texan. BTW, did I mention I am also a romantic? *chuckle* Respectfully, Rett: "Life is like a beach. Salty, gritty, somewhat fishy and at other times, downright crabby" Rett: 2008

*lightly whispers*

there's no 'h' in crystals.... (see title) and for the whole 'bearded Texan' thing... I like that picture. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"The fortunes of fables are able To see the dawn Now witness the quickness with which We get along To sing the blues you've got to live the dues and Carry on." - CSN&Y
