reverence in stalemate

  I've been watching people
as their lives gyrate around
         whatever axis available,
                      hamsters and wheels

   Try catching someones eye
driving in the sameness of
                       afternoon traffic.
You will see where their routine
chose slowly how to break them
after enough years. Their faces will
present you lines and corners.

                        Traffic moves
the way misery would choose.
       compulsive and bowing towards
    a swallowing  order

We spent our lives waiting in lines
that lead nowhere,

These creatures of action freeze their joints
and learn to stand crane legged,
if the other does not have to feel.
A sad beauty in what they are not dancing.

So true...

if you want to see some unsatisfied people, look in the long lines at the highway department... just one example... hi Whitney... how are you? Richard

I like it

Which is saying a lot when it comes to my taste. That damn hamster wheel - just when you think you've managed to get out of it! The only thing I had a problem with was the last line - it feels a little awkward with the way it was worded. Problem is I can't think of a suggestion for you on that one.... Anyhow, enjoyed the poem. :-) Keep up the good work!
