First love

Such passion in a timid kiss might well have locked that long and weary grasp

which time keeps on her children.

But love was just a game of pride

that ended once between the sheets

and left us there for ever; faint hearts grown sadly old, so aged by that first sorrow.

Now walking by a lake at night

I see your face within the face

that now I love, and crying softly

in my heart remember then

those tears shed feebly on the ground,

when once we knew young love could lie;

not me and you, but I, .. and I.

Amazing how we can now recall our first loves without bitterness or longing. Such a sad write. My only love is still my love today. All others before have never heard those all too precious words from me, as the feeling did not exist. I still think of them sometimes, though, and it makes me appreciate even more what I have today. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"When there's no good answers, and no new questions. You are indeed fortuntate Jess

to have only ever wanted to express your love to one person and for them to be your constant partner. Safe to say i think that the first love i am referring to here was certainly not love at the time, although we surely thought it was. To be truthfull i can recall far more recent loves just as poignantly and without bitterness or longing although i can't dismiss them as being naive in the way i perhaps could this one. Thanks for reading. Keith

I’ve been in love only

I've been in love only once.... though I loved many and fallen in and out of love with my x for almost as many years as we were together... It is love I am in love with.... personified in the man who I happen to fall in love with. And I loved this poem Keith... ~A

As always Anna

you have the perfect answer lol. We do indeed only ever have one love the problem is finding someone who still believes in and wants that too lol. I am glad the poem struck a chord somewhere. Keith

I am happy for you Maggie

and the poem about first love is of course where you believe naively that you love each other but unfortunately don't. Real love often comes much later although at the time it did seem like the real thing. How easily we are deceived in love, especially when we are young. Keith

Glad you liked it

Jayne-Chloe. Sometimes a little nostalgia does no harm although this is clearly a bitter-sweet remembrance. BW Keith
