Spider

creep not into this corner of mine
for you see, this is my only refuge
and if you come in, ‘twill be tainted
with the fear of your being
and an impossible escape
from what I was originally running from

Spider

I like this piece, though I would rather your space and time with the spider was as Robert the Bruce, but not for me to say really LOL, WE learn from all things in our struggle to know and be, Yours, Ian

confused, Ian....

Robert the Bruce? Please elaborate. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Oh, I guess it wouldn't hurt to mention what inspired this in the first place: last night in chat Sakkkkkk, Mason, myself, and a couple others were throwing around spider poems. I chimed in with this one. I'm dreadfully afraid of spiders, so if one were to come into my sanctuary where I am hiding from what I am afraid of, then an object of fear has found me, and I have no where else to go. Does this help any? ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"When there's no good answers, and no new questions. Robert the Bruce

King of Scotland back in the 1300's or some time like that. He was on the run and hiding in a cave, there he watched a spider endevering to put a web across the cave, it tried for ages to complete the task and after a long time managed to do the job. From this Robert gain the sence of patience, and carried on to do great things for Scotland, It's a long story, pop it on to Google, or you search engine quite a lovely story. Yours, Ian Holding Of spiders webs and delicate things Of the powder of the butterflies wings Of pebbles dropped into longing ponds Of humming birds and loving words Of peoples silent dreams To hold the web of life so free To let the powder touch your mind to see To let wave on wave just travel on To hear humming birds in song To dream of other things Be holding on to the web of life Be delicate as the powders fly Be a slowly moving wave in time Be lulled by the humming bird’s sound Be then within your dreams Just change the Spider to suit your ways Journey On

Aye

I can see the correlation now. Thank you for the information. I've heard that if you spend enough time around the things you fear, you'll eventually not be afraid anymore. Maybe that little spider hangin' around will teach me not to be so afraid of them. That poem at the end sounds vaguely familiar. I like it! Thanks again, Ian. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"When there's no good answers, and no new questions. I do hope that the poem at the end was not known to you, as it is one of mine from a few years ago and hasn't been published. Maybe from another site ???? Intriguing hope you can think how it is familiar. The little spider can teach you, that each corner you can hide in, can also be a refuge to others, so you are never alone, if any corner is dark light a candle in your soul and it will shine the dark away, Yours, Ian

No..

I didn't mean the exact words were familiar, it just sounds vaguely similar to a poem I've read before - your work is safe, I assure you. It was actually Weirdelf's poem about a spider that was brought to mind. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"When there's no good answers, and no new questions. very true

They're like something that you dread to look at, but can't tear your eyes away from all the same. At least my home is mostly bug free. I guess those little 8 legged buggers do serve a purpose. They're still scary, though... Thanks for the read, and the comments. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"When there's no good answers, and no new questions. Cute poem. I don't like bees, cause they can sting. When you move, you won't have to fear spiders, I don't think any deadly spiders live in the north. I just squish them. Patty

Spider

Jess I myself do not fear spiders but welcome them into my abode they keep things clean. I have a family who live under the TV. I call them Freda and Fred I love to watch them. They are amazing. Do not forget they are afraid of you. You are much bigger then them. I think most people are afraid because they are small and move so quickly. One of the seniors i look after (visit her take her shoping do some gardening for her etc) she is afraid of spiders and she calls me in the night to go around and check the whole house. I find the culprit pick it up and put it in the garden. Fear not my friend. Can you recall what made you afraid of them?

Maggie

First off, many thanks for the read and the comment. I don't really know what started the fear. My mother is borderline arachnophobic. Maybe it's hereditary. I used to be able to stare at them in fascination, and even pick up Daddy long-legs. Now, whenever I see a spider, I freeze and feel my heartbeat triple. If it's really really small, I squish it or shoo it outdoors. If it's larger, it's Jon's problem. We let some of the smaller ones stay, because they're tucked away in their corners, and don't venture around the place. That's fine. The fear has kind of spread to almost all bugs now. Beetles, bees, large ants, unknown things, praying mantis, etc. Basically, if it isn't a dragonfly, regular housefly, lightning bug, butterfly/moth, cricket, kadydid, or ladybug, I'm probably afraid of it, or at least get edgy if I see one. I don't know why it's spread, and I really don't know what started it. Go figure, I have no problem handling snakes and such, but shy away from a little bug no larger than a speck.... it doesn't make sense! ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- - this is part of the reason why us Americans are pissed! http://www.neopoet.com/node/14993 We're broke!!

Spiders

Hi Jess Well maybe next time you may come back as a spider. Life is life and i treasure it all. Fred and Freda this is their first home and has been for them and their little ones for the last 20yrs they are well behaved and cause no trouble. I enjoy watching them and they seem to take the same route when the appear and dissapear. Curiosity Ha! maggie
