I'm so depressed. A few weeks ago, I sent in one of my poems to the Mid-America Poetry Review. I received a response from the editor saying that he was interested in publishing the poem, but he thought that I should make some changes, and he suggested what those changes should be. I made the changes and quickly sent the poem back to him. I was filled with hope that I might finally get one of my poems published.
I have just received the following note in the mail:
"In November, with the winter 2008-2009 issue of the Mid-America Poetry Review, the review ends publication. We thank you for your support and your interest; and we wish you well.
Yours truly,
Robert C. Jones
Editor"
Who would have thought that during the time between when he made the suggestions, and the time I responded to him the journal would shut down! I'm really having lousy luck getting my poetry published. I sent my poetry 7 poetry journals. Of those seven journals, I have received two notices that journal are going out of business, and in one case the P O box for the poetry journal had been closed. So altogether, three of the seven poetry journals that I of written to have gone out of business this year. What is so surprising is that I am using the 2008 edition of the poet's market book which means that all of these journals must've gone out of business within the past few months. I think I will wait until the 2009 edition comes out before sending out any more poetry.
