Pick-Up Lines
The pick-up lines were great in the days
when the Chevy purred down by the levy
we were young then
full of ourselves
with nary a cloud in our sky,
Coyote was a shaman
howling with our youth,
a priceless vision
we picked up along the way
to the epiphany of gathering starlight
we spoke:
"Come softly
stay with me
for eternity
though our bodies
may be worn
and the presence of
our light
wans....
the bluest flame
burning brightly
through all these lives,
loved
and never lost..."
and now the page we are reading from
is turning to rust,
our eyes already dust ....
in the landscape ahead.....
when the Chevy purred down by the levy
we were young then
full of ourselves
with nary a cloud in our sky,
Coyote was a shaman
howling with our youth,
a priceless vision
we picked up along the way
to the epiphany of gathering starlight
we spoke:
"Come softly
stay with me
for eternity
though our bodies
may be worn
and the presence of
our light
wans....
the bluest flame
burning brightly
through all these lives,
loved
and never lost..."
and now the page we are reading from
is turning to rust,
our eyes already dust ....
in the landscape ahead.....
