CRASH SITE

CRASH SITE   Bravo Foxtrot Juliet down, over! In deafening silence, it struck The whole nation, with numbness That, which eclipsed all realities   In locked emotions, the people Were gripped with induced insanity And fear that fuelled the outrage Tears mingled with blood   Rain washed down the sacrifices Into the womb of the earth On the farmland of Tunga Madaki As one drinks water after a meal   Charred remains of corpses Headless bodies and limbs Scattered across the savannah, were A moment ago, healthy human parts   Parts of living men and women Proud and noble in their ways Now pleading from memory To be carried away as harvest   I looked around the verandas Of hospital morgues, filled to capacity And wished it was a dream But I was wrong

War torn countries are a sad sight to see. I don't know much about Nigeria, but I hope that you don't have to witness things like this. I know it's not that peaceful of a country, unfortunately. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"So you stand on the corner in your new English clothes, and you look so polished from your hair down to your toes. Ah, but still your finger's gonna pick your nose after all." - Billy Joel

Peace, here could be relative...

After the civil war that ended in 1970, there has been relative peace in Nigeria. The years of military rule enforced peace and the counter coups made civilian government desirable. Nigeria is now a democratically elected government with Presedent Umaru Musa Yar'Adua. The poem takes on issues of avoidable calamities, accidents and acceptance of fate. The frequencies of air crashes, road accidents and careless death numb our senses. Thank you for the reading and comment. Best wishes. T.

You know...

To share the memory of calamities is just a way of letting out the steam, the scars are indelible and the cost can not be quantified. Thanks for the reading and for the comment. Best wishes. T.

Awesome Write, sad story

War is a terrible terrible thing. You captured everything well. Respectfully, Rett: "You want change? Let's elect a president and give him total power for a year. At the end of one year he is marched out into the middle of Reliant Stadium in Houston and locked in with 50,000 of the American people. Let them decide

Air Crashes...

this has been a recurrent theme in my works, avoidable lost of lives through neglect, poor maintenance culture and passing of bulk by shifting blames. If only, we can take time and care, things will not be so bad. Thank you for the reading and for the comment. Best wishes. T.
