THE QUILT

Pieced together with many patches
Of hued stained glass made of cloth
Each tiny stitch, a thing of love
Each piece of cloth chosen with care

A work of art from caring hands
With many thoughts sewn in
Worked with bowed head and peaceful heart
The quilt becomes unspoken prayer

Hi Linda...

the quilt has always held a warm spot in my old heart... My grandmother had them, and made them... reminds me of a time when there were few worries for me... and those things are warm! enjoyed your write... Richard

I still have a few

of them made by my mama and my grandma, my wife has several made by both her grandmas and he mama. There is nothing nicer than a quilt made by the loving hands of those near and dear to you. No, it is not like cross-stitching, it is sewing pieces of different shapes of pretty cloth to make a quilt. then you stitch on the out side of the quit after it is sewn together. It is nice that you cross stitch, it is beautiful needle work. thank you for your kind comments

The Quilt

A wonderfull poem. Quilt is a symbol of warmth. You slip below it for comfort and warmth -the warmth of love. The delicate feeling while stitching it with unshared concentration is sublime. Beautiful imagery. Keep it up Linda. Mohammad

how did I miss this?

I wish I had the patience to undertake quiltmaking. They yield such a beautiful result, but boy do I hate sewing! ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"The fortunes of fables are able To see the dawn Now witness the quickness with which We get along To sing the blues you've got to live the dues and Carry on." - CSN&Y

I did not take up quilting until after my kids were all grown up. Would not have had the time before that. Thank you for reading my poem
