That "Feeeling"

When the needles on the back of your neck
tickle you, way out loud.
Or the intimacy you feel undressed,
or when your head's above the clouds.

When an infant reaches for your wrist,
or their gaze stretches across your eye;
or how you'd recognize a loved one
on the day that they chose to die.

It might happen when you realize
that a friendship just could not end;
or maybe that, "familiar territory"
was right around the bend.

Maybe, just a reckoning
that you've had a Deja Vu,
and there's an ominous, sneaking feeling
that it's not quite through with you.

It hit me at a movie show
getting popcorn for another,
like someone close was worrying,
turned out it was my mother.

There's every indication
fretting's not the only cause,
this eeriness is hard to shake
and can make you stop and pause.

I've not completely recognized
what makes my blood run "cold",
for this has kept on happening
since I was 12 years old.

Maybe it's just in my mind
but, that seems hard to believe,
could it be, I'm a soul that's spooked
on this, All Hallow's Eve!?

Spooky yes

but true none the less. in 1992 the wife and I were on a motorcycle trip and were all the way into Virginia on Skyline Drive when I got this feeling that something was wrong with my mother. We exited the parkway and went to the nearest town and I tried to call her, but didn't get an answer. The feeling was extremely strong so I turned the bike onto the Interstate and headed back here to Texas. I drove 10 hours a day with the trailer behind the bike and stopped every 200 miles to call with no answer. Two and a half days it took to get back and stopped at her house. She was so sick and dehydrated that when you pinched her skin it stayed the way it was when you pinched it. Called Ambulance and it took six months for her to recover. Call it psychic powers, birth mother bond, message from God or whatever you want to. Sometimes these things happen. Very good write sir. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Respectfully, Rett: "If a fool and his money are soon parted, what does that say about the government bailout?" Rett
