Quest

Quest

He saw the glow of the harbor lights
From the ship a-sail in the dark of night
On a stormy sea; where could she be?
Like a knight on quest for the Holy Grail
He kept on searching to no avail
His love he can’t find; slowly losing his mind.

From Singapore to San Francisco town,
Searching everywhere to be found,
But always too late, she just wouldn't wait.
Wherever he goes she's been there
Seeming to vanish into empty air
He's going insane; seaching in vain

From the Ivory coast to Boston Bay
He’s been everywhere she might stay
Going up in flame; he knows no shame
Like a soldier marching off to war
He’s searched near and he’s searched far
No place to start; just follow his heart

From darkened docks to the lonely street
He walks alone not admitting defeat
Through the pouring rain; wrapped in his pain
Like an astronaut heading to the sky
Blasting off for another try
He asks around; nowhere to be found

Red lights are flashing in the street
A body covered by a bloody sheet
In the pouring rain; no longer in pain
A worn photograph in a fist clutched tight
A man dead in the dark of night
His story untold; lying so cold

Rett,

the search for loss love, and never being able to catch up. right to the death he tried and tried. this is such a beautiful story, I didn't want it to end so soon! You blew my mind with this one and it's tragic end. Your nothing but a romantic. Great job!!!! thanks, Eddie

Thanks Eddie

Guilty as charged, I am that along with other things. *LOL* Really glad you liked it though. It was written as a country song and sounds pretty dang good as long as I don't sing it. Respectfully, Rett: "If a fool and his money are soon parted, what does that say about the government bailout?" Rett

Country song? Where's the truck? Where's the dog? Just teasin'. Really sad write, as this probably happens quite often. You forgot

The smoky bar room, the train and the jukebox! *L* Unfortunatly that is the case in most, but a few do find it and so life goes on. Thanks my friend. Respectfully, Rett: "If a fool and his money are soon parted, what does that say about the government bailout?" Rett

Such a beautifully written poem here Rett! Ah,but picky me, line eight seemed off to me? Once again it grabbed me, and kept my attention to the very end. This is great~ A 5 from me! "There's no trick to being a humorist when you have the whole government working for you." Will Rogers

Janice, thank you

I am glad you liked it. As for the line 8, you're right and that is what it is all about. Picking up on something missed is what helps each of us become better. Thanks so much. I think I repaired the cadence with the change. The syllabic stresses seem to be better. See what you think. Respectfully, Rett: "Does this election remind you of The Emperors New Clothes? No one has the guts to tell him because..." Rett
