Damn Sleepless Night!!

Moon rays enter through my
window pane,

Bloodshot eyes fight for some
rest through insomnia pain,

I raise and pull down the shade,
to deflect the bright moon rays,

Quick as a flash I'm back in the
sack, only to find I'm still an
insomniac

Slivers of light do still attack,
seems i won't get no rest back
in this sack,

I turn in my bed and cover my
eyes, now there are moon beams
striking at my rack,

I raise from my bed and sit at my
desk, attempting to see if writings
the trick that will put me to sleep,

I write and i write and all that i see
is gibberish, that I can't even read,

so here is this poem that came
from this night of economic
worries and not enough damn
sleep!!

Unfortunately, not much can be done about the financial thing. It's cyclical, and it'll eventually come back on its own. I feel for anyone that is having difficulties during this time, though. I guess the paranoid pessamist in me has always made it so that I'm prepared for such situations. Good luck. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"It is better to be thought of a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt..." - Mark Twain

honestly Jess,

this is just a poem that I wrote while waiting for my father-in-law, who was at the Doctors. Not a fact, just fantasy. My wife would tell you, "this idiot never worries". But thanks for the concern anyway. Eddie "if I go into wall street and scream bailout while I'm drunk, will I get one"

Damn Sleepless Night

A beautiful poem. Thank you for posting it. Some times events that you encounter take away your sleep. It is nice to use such an occasion for creative work. During my student days I often suffered from Insomnia. On such occasions I used to recite the verses of the great master of Urdu Poetry GHALIB. Deep philosophic thoughts in those verses normally swayed me away from the disturbing realities and mental state I was in. Next the book used to be dropped from my hand as the fairy of sleep sang lullaby for me. I remember a Rubai of the acclaimed poet Josh Malihabadi, which I have translated in English: In my thoughts the barriers of day and night I break I'm the sword that cuts me like a cake Bear witness to this unique event, O stars! The world is sleeping and I am awake Mohammad.

magnetic lure

no sleep either so I write thinking of Poe of the others who found solace in the quiet of cities and time constraints the flickering gas flame he candle tallow the electric bulb and sometimes moonlight sullen like an express weeping her fare through the whisk of night howling at the lonesome crossings like a crestfallen dirge echoeing in the woodlands

Thanks for appreciating my comment and the quote of my Quatrain from my book Rubai'yat of Josh Malihabadi -A Drop and the Ocean. You may quote my Quatrain wherever you like. There is no restriction on quotes. Your poem appears to have triggered an exquisite poem titled Magnetic Lure by Orgami. Best wishes. Mohammad
