NIGERIA!

We are each of us angels with only one wing; andwe can only fly by embracing each other”

(lucretius)

NIGERIA!

Nigeria! My beloved mother

Bride my father Africa relishes like wine

Celestial prowess crated you a wonder

Adorned a masterpiece of opulence

Rare amongst his many brides he flaunts

With reckless lavish, your endowment charms a lot

Envied, yet celebrated like none other

Holding grounds, Africa’s heart rests your throne

Your offspring, a race branded, yet exceptional

An enigma, words stammer to describe

Yes! That is my mother Nigeria, the African Queen.

The super Eagle, so named is your fame

Robust with strength unmatched, just anywhere

Custodian of treasury’s, your ilk lack

Resilient in spirit, dominating the pack

Like a stallion, elegance is your style

Truly a beauty, exuding intelligence

You break the bounds unlearned

As matured wine, celebrated with poise,

You are a toast in every clime

Irresistible is the taste of your charm

Really, A star with myriad facet

Oh! Nigeria, your fillings allure the all.

Perfection puts a dearth in all to vie with

Sharing faults and pains,

You cannot be exempt, but bear

Weakness most native with all

With graceful meekness,

A bride, ever willing to learn

Given some leverage, decorated as the best

Contradiction, yet confuse your reality

Upon your shoulders

Strangers climb to denigrate your being

Sometimes a pariah all across

Yet many woo you, even on the cross

Oh! Pretty one just endure the loss

Indeed, a head of you, diamonds a future

A path, prosperous fatness lines.

Nigeria, in compassion, exceed Mama Theresa’s

, we hail and uphold thee

, bride in the heart of Africa’s treasury

, giant wired in amazing humility

, a defense, all weakling beacon

, giver, scarcely receiving

, nest for variation, yet no discrimination

, home to all, freedom not limited

, land with great minds, advancing global change

, great beauty, spiced in tasty diversity

, a home not different, depending on your craft of it

, where civility complements piousness

Welcome to Nigeria!

Center of the heart beat of excellence

Abode to promise and real break

God bless Nigeria, queen of Africa

God bless Nigeria, home of the millennium

Ignore the bad press, fraternize the picture

God bless Nigeria, same humanity.

A SPECIAL DEDICATION TO MY DEAR COUNTRY ON HER BIRTHDAY (October 1st)

“Nigeria is a victim of overdemonization; she is not a Tsunami all must dread, her contents are good and beautiful, let’s give her a chance”

Your Nigeria, is as you say in your excellent poem, well written. The but's in the world, although she is your Mother and Father the children always squabble over even such a lovely place, they become greedy and influenced by things outside your beautiful family, the strongest even in the money side rule the home and not all can be peaceful. As I said to someone the other day, My wand is Broken, if it had been ok I would give you a loving family, to look after such a beautiful place, and a God that could hold you safe. Becoming a preacher:- Look to your people and see them safe from the corruption of others, and let them love, as you do your country, build it up and then see if there is another country that you can work with for the common cause. Sorry for the preachy bit but have seen so many countries that have evolved then crashed, Yours, Ian.T

I can tell you love your country and the pictures you paint are beautiful. Makes me wish I could visit. Each and every country in the world has it's good and bad, like my country, America, which I dearly love. I get a lot of the scam E-mails from Nigeria, but I get some from our northern neighbor, Canada, also as do I scams from inside the good ole USA. I wish you and your country and it's divergent peoples well and pray that all will be well with each of you. Beautiful poem sir!
