DREAMER

Can't keep in step with the rest of the world
'Cause I'm  listening to a different kind of drummer

Can't see the world as the rest of the world
Too busy living inside my head

Do I care, should I care, I don't
Think it matters anymore

Dream of times ago, dream of times to be
Listen to the music in my head

I am my friend, I am my foe
I can look, but do not see

Or listen and still do not hear
Like to wander off to places

Unknown to anyone but me
Don't really  need to mingle

My companion is my imagination
Have no trouble talking to me

I shut the doors to things like pain and hurt
But they don't always like to stay closed

It is that thing called memory
That keeps reopening the doors

I am a work in progress
So please excuse the mess

Just a dreamer, dreaming through life
Kinda like the way I am

[big grin] I love this

elegant and human in its straighforward exposition. You know I can't even keep beat to my own drummer, I wonder what it's like for people who keep the beat. cheers, Jess

A dream

A story that opens so many of the doors you wish to keep closed. A talk with the one you trust, then there are others with you there. Only let the ones you love in there, and they will open up the proper doors, so that the light of love and a good life can come streaming through. A lovely write non the less, one day my inner friends will talk out, and maybe shout from the rooftops, of the things that I would love to have or be, but then looking at ones self from the inside it will always show that I dare not for some reason or another if you know what I mean. Hoping to hear of you more. Yours, Ian.T

Linda...

this speaks of acceptance... not everyone gets there... not all can achieve such revelations about themselves... much enjoyed this look into your persona... Richard

Hi Richard

Thank you for reading and commenting. Getting older has some benefits, acceptance I guess is one of them.

Thanks for the little glimpse inside you. I broke my little drummer's sticks, because he was keeping me up at night.... LOL! ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"It is better to be thought of a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt..." - Mark Twain

Thanks for your comments. I used to play drums in school. Loved the sound those sticks made on wood. Made my mother crazy, too.

I like this piece. Like Joseph, the son of Jacob, some of us dream dreams, from fantasy, sweat dreams to nightmares. Some dreams happen when we step in between the pillars of opposition, to steer the equilibrating forces for a balance and harmonious life. Well done Linda. Best wishes. T.

I read this and had to run, then came back to it. Such peace with oneself. Beautiful poem Linda~ "There's no trick to being a humorist when you have the whole government working for you." Will Rogers

Hi, Janice

It has only been the last year or so that I have come to accept me. Before that, just walking into a room full of people was a very difficult thing for me. Dont know why it has all changed, but I am glad is has. Thank you for your comments.

Dreamer

Linda, This is an enchanting write. It touches the heart. So much anguish and despair that makes you wander off to places unknown to any one else. Most noticeable is the gloom overcast all over the poem. May you have pleasant dreams. Mohammad

I like the confidence and peace accepting yourself. This is a great poem. It feels good to get to that place and be at peace. I think it comes from doing the right things. And this poem was just that. Full of feeling thanks for sharing. Patty

Oh my

From one dreamer to another I absolutely love the realness here. I am a dreamer on the road Am I turtle, snake or toad A man that dreams of what may be or a tadpole soon the frog to be Sorry, something that popped into my head. I love this one Linda.
