I Searched

i searched o'er the flatland grey
 as
the beast of every burden
i ultimately accepted
i threw out net after net
to
 the eternal sea
to find the drop
that is me
i went walking through the emerald forest
and read 10000 acres of words...
icy winds seared me in half and my roots
broke every accord

i opened the lotus blossom
one by one and danced
naked in her corolla
under the tempest moon
and golden-appled sun
i stretched myself to fit every skin
and flew away on fervent prayers
of a glass-winged butterfly

i found God in the tattered shawl
of a ghost i send across the river,
over and over

i can not rest

for i have not touched You,
my Beloved You

even though You are as close as my
ebbing breath.

Wise use ...

of metaphor. They work so well here. Make for an ethereal quality ... as if rising from a swamp, one that's a joy to explore. This piece, if the reader lets it, causes mind to take wing. The sadness implicit makes it so very real. Thanx, Chuck

anna

Anna, Anna, Anna.... do you just have a little spigot tapped into the "well of fantastic writing" or something? This is excellent. I would have loved to have seen the glassed wing butterfly. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- - "Everyone needs to believe in something. Absolutely stunning imagery.

Absolutely stunning imagery. The lyrical flow is excellent. You 'took me there'. This is absolutely beautiful. Kaz It's impossible to smile on the outside without feeling better on the inside.

Anna, this is absolutely great

I also liked the part about searching the acres for words, well the butterfly part was good, stretching skin.. The whole thing was a pleasure to read, Thanks for sharing this one... Patty

strange thing poetry…. to

strange thing poetry.... to write good poetry one has to bare one's soul, and doing so is strangely sorrowful... and the more one bares one's soul the more hurt one bears... so i guess it balances out. thank you my friends. ~A
