Going down the pub

Put your leg on John

We're going down the pub

If you aint got any money

I'll let you 'ave a sub

Get your leg on John

It isn't far to walk

We'll get ourselves a pint

And then We'll 'ave a talk

Strap your leg on John

It isn't very far

If your really feeling poorly

I'll take you in the car

Got your leg on John ?

That's good, now lets be off

Thanks for comin' John

You really are a Toff

What you drinkin' John

A pint ? I'll 'ave the same

Get your darts out John

We'll 'ave a little game

Thanks for comin' John

Glad you didn't stay at home

Thanks for comin' John

I hate drinking on me own

interesting

John mus' be a swell guy. Nice, easygoing write. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- - "Everyone needs to believe in something. I believe I'll have another beer!" - "Due to budget cutbacks, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off."

Despite the easy tone,

this poem makes me sad. It reminds me of two men, one of whom I knew well. Both had an alcohol problem, one was an amputee with a prosthetic leg and they were each other's best (and maybe only) friend. Both were so lonely. I don't know if you meant this to be bleak. Maybe my personal experience is tainting it. I did like it.

Thanks for stopping by, this

Thanks for stopping by, this ones about my father in law, who lives with us. He's a teetotal amputee and rarely leaves the house, even when invited to go to the pub. John
