KNOWING GOD

KNOWING GOD I am unworthy to talk of faith and loveWhen it comes to great religious featsAnd I know we can not all be wrongGod is who we say he is, thoughI wonder who we say he really isFrom whom he is, and who he is notI look up at the mountains of EkondoAnd see gods’ empires and kingdomsUnlike the glorious days of OlympiansOf gods pleading to be left aloneFrom the extractions of idolatryThat has gripped our belief systemsOn the eternal journey of mankindFrom that which is pure and true

Yeah ! I would take the glory and the spirituality of what we had no hand in making over the idea of serving the man made idea of accepting a group of people or a man made thing as a means to get to a place of holiness any day. Thanks, Mark Man thinks this.

When people... say it is only their beliefs in God that are correct and mine wrong, I do not know what to say. When an alligator comes out of the sea to tell you the crocodile is very ill, will you argue with him? The poem calls for spiritual awakening that would remove all forms of idol worship from the religions of the world. Thank you for stopping by to read and comment. Best wishes. T.

faith is the secret of Gods power not idols. God is in the mounts, the fields, the Sun, God is in all we see, hear, taste, and touch. our heart is the home of God. His empire is us, not what we build, because those things are of the world. you are absolutely right God is spiritual, and is how each of us see him in his perfection. This is a thought Provoking write which I enjoy, because it lead to good discussion! thanks, Eddie

Yes, God is in everything, including us, not that which is created by man. It is a call for spiritual birth and rebirth, a journey to the kingdom that is within. Thank you for the reading and the comment. Best wishes. T.

Some of religion's

Some of the early accomplishments the very early ones I do believe are difficult to speak of, if at all, beacuse they are so beyond us. It's like how can one possibly know God? Do you know yourself? What works to put these letters on this screen? But anyhow my point is what always worked will always work because it WORKS. People might try and hide these workings for selfish gain by giving these things other names or overwriting them. I hope I'm not too vague T., but I thank you once again. Mark Man thinks this.

The popular saying goes, "I do not know beyond this life, what I shall meet..." but I have the prayer of Saint Augustine on my toilet door, which reads: "Lord teach me to know thee and to know myself". When the Lord teaches, it is for a lifetime. Thanks once again for asking and making me to think more. Best wishes. T.

Well... one thing I won't argue is religion - so will keep this to the point of you raised a lot of good points, and yes, it is quite a thought-provoking write. :~) ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- - "Everyone needs to believe in something. I believe I'll have another beer!" - "Due to budget cutbacks, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off."

Thank you for the reading, yes it raises more questions than answers and I hope we find these answers while we are still alive. Best wishes. T.

It is really thought provoking, I agree, but this thought caught me while eating this evening, so I dropped the food to write and ask if there is anything we can do to improve our faith and our knowledge of God. Thank you for the reading and for the comment. Best wishes. T.

Oh thank you T.Rex thank you!

god! most of the poetry I've read tonight has been like getting a quiche enema! At last something intelligent, challenging and well crafted for a bonus! Got to challenge you back on that last line. Whenever we concede to moving from purity and truth we tacitly concede to original sin and our inate wrongness, which I contest to my dying breath in quest of betterment. Technically, the line- From the extractions of idolatry extractions bothers me, doesn't feel right. Demands would fit the meaning but not the feeling. What do you think? cheers, Jess

Thank you for your appreciation of this write. I really struggled to find a word that could fit the deception that envelopes some of our involvements in idolatrous acts and to which we seem not to be aware of. Yes, I struggled to grab the word, 'extractions'. 'Demands fits in well, and I will replace 'extractions' with your suggestion. Thank you. "From that which is pure and true". This appeals to the individual realization of the immensity of his being as part of the universe, not an object or image and not even someone outside of his being. We are all linked up to our Source. The things of the spirit have been so mixed up and confused with images that are rooted in superstition, if these false images are removed, the pure spiritual essence will shine. The truth lies, not outside, but in us. Thank you very much for making me to think. Best wishes. T. Rex

Oh Linda

you are sure "every knee shall bend, every tongue shall confess"? A true certain fact so everyone who believes differently is wrong? Mine won't. cheers, Jess

This is thought

This is thought provoking, but for me it still boils down to one thing that I know for sure,God is the God of our hearts and our realisation,it depend on each individual how he wants to interprete God,I know you know what I mean.

You are...

You are right about 'God of our hearts'. Should I call you a seer or a seeker who is blessed with arcane wisdom of the ancient. Thank you for stopping by to read and comment. Best wishes. T.
