It's not easy being perfect

    It’s not easy being perfect

I only know I am

I think that its inherited

I get it from my gran

She always knew the right thing

To say, and what to do

Like curing my hiccups

Or making Irish stew

She used to knit my sweaters

Put patches on my jeans

If I couldn’t understand

She’d tell me what it means

Though she’s no longer with us

And I miss her every day

I don’t need her to tell me

What to do or what to say

I don’t need to ask the questions

Cos she taught me all too well

I now know all the answers

So school can go to Hell

Can't help a great big grin,

yes, I must adhere. Just one tiny little peeve, feel free to slap me with a wet rag. The poem belies the title, you make it sound easy if you've got a great gran. cheers, Jess

Well, Nobody’s perfect are

Well, Nobody's perfect are they?, could the title be considered ironic ? This was me as a kid, thought I knew it all until I hit the big wide world and then realised just how ignorant I really was, have been trying hard ever since, to close the gap, but I think I'm fighting battle. Thanks for the comment, pleased to know that it made you smile. John

Hi John...and welcome

Sadly I haven't family from my side, but i have had times being influenced by great people during periods of my life, as like a second Mum/father one woman who stays close to my heart, and I still to this day love and respect, what and who she stood for....... Yet underneath that layer of rino skin.. she had a heart of gold, Loved this piece.... Very best regards.... Peter ~~~"I am not afraid of tomorrow, for I have seen yesterday, and I love today."~~~
