ACCESS DENIED

Access deniedSounds rather snideOnce I was one of youSo full of pride Once I was inNow, I am outBut, I don't needTo scream and shout Only the electMay view the pageIt is only theyWho may speakFrom the stage At least nowI can ease my mindBut, it's so strangeLooking in from outside

Access Granted (to an extent that is fair to members of the AEC)

Micheal, you have a crisp clean way of rantng. This poem is well done. You know last term I was getting headlines from my friends on the AEC on the friends activity list as well. I really was bothered for a while that I could not get access from those links as I too was in the habit of being involved and believed I had someting to contribute still. I removed the aec from my friends BUT they had me as friend LMAO eventually I just ignored the notices lol. Although I cannot get into details as it would just not be fair at this point, I can say that the AEC is right now informally discussing what might be the agenda for the term and getting aquainted with one another. Best thing to do with those friend activity notices is ignore em my friend. Truly, Mark Man thinks this.

Thanks Mark! I know. I just get frustrated by them, but in future, I will ignore them. Michael

Nicely written. This reminds me of the "Star Bellied Sneeches" by Dr Seuss. There were stars upon thars! "There's no trick to being a humorist when you have the whole government working for you." Will Rogers

It's nice you've gained ...

perspective from experiencing both sides. It's far more effective, as you've done here, to rant from sort of a slantwise direction. Here the very gentleness of your plaint lends strength to it. The bluntly direct rant's too often overwhelmed by the passion/emotion behind it that's by the directness pushed roughly to the front row ... Another effective way is through clever metaphor. It's perhaps the most sidelong slantwise---and if done well enough, can be the most effective of all. Yet another, of course, is the surgical-scalpel-well-chosen ridicule. A good example being treatments by SNL (Saturday Night Live). Which my wife watches, then reports to me. It comes on well past my bedtime. Now, I am out But, I don’t need But, it’s so strange If this fine write were mine, I'd remove the commas from the above three instances to make them Now I am out But I don’t need But it’s so strange Those commas are not necessary ... and serve to speed-bump just where not needed. Thanx, Chuck PS: As to What did you think of my title? Good How was my language use? Good What did you think of the rhythm or pattern or pacing? As to the first two stanzas, good. As to Only the elect May view the page It is only they Who may speak From the stage, I'd be inclined to omit the "the" of the last line. Seems then to add a measure of balance/pace/rhythm. Either that or add another syllable, as in (one example) "From center stage." As to At least now I can ease my mind But, it’s so strange Looking in from outside, the last line needs to drop a syllable to maintain consistent pace/rhythm, as in (again, one example) "Looking in from out." How does this theme appeal to you? Very good How was the beginning/ending of the poem? Very good

Thank-you for your suggestions!

Thank-you for both your comments and your criticism. I never liked the fact that the AEC holds their discussions behind closed doors, but I guess that's just the way things work around here, and that's never going to change. I will definitely read over your comments, and probably make some changes based upon them. I always appreciate it when you take the time to make suggestions. Also, thank you for addressing my specific requests for assistance. I've noticed that most people rarely take notice of those requests these days. Once upon a time, I resented criticism, but now I've come to realize that it can be one of greatest gifts that one can receive. Sincerely, Michael
