I found a very interesting article about Gian Lorenzo Bernini in my Smithsonian Magazine. The same article is on the Smithsonian.com website. you can also watched a slide show on the website. I knew that he was a famous sculptor, but I didn't really have an appreciation for how good he was until after I saw these photographs. It's amazing how he could put so much detail into a stone!
