Another Death in Afghanistan

Tell me my dearest friend,
where on earth can I
be beautiful,
walk tall and proud
and be who I am
if not in Afghanistan?

Am I not so valued here
that I am
a sight not to behold,
Am I not so precious to you
that should anything
less than your image
of my perfection storm
dark in your raging
eyes,
my Beloved Afghanistan,
I should gladly spill my blood
thick and sweet,

and I should die silent
and speak no more of who's to blame.

Although these cries-in-the-wilderness-poems are probably my better ones, were that there were no need to write them. Peace Now. ~A

Stunning poetry. You ‘took

Stunning poetry. You 'took me there' and even without the footnote the meaning came through loud and clear. Scores a five from me! Kaz It's impossible to smile on the outside without feeling better on the inside.

Kaz, you’re mending well

Kaz, you're mending well now? I love being in the company of poets, am reminded of the difficulties with folks who wanted *footnotes* with my poems... critics usually. Not that that isn't food for growth or thought.... ~A i love your Cocker Spaniel.... is she a Lady? ;-)

Thanks to all who

Thanks to all who commented... It bespeaks of our unification against *wrong*. Blessings to us all. May we all walk in the light of compassion. War? This war is a war waged against women, sadly. ~A

Anna...

Your tribute is inspiring... well crafted art work! this was a sad event for the human race, or I should say another one... this is part of our job as poets to scream it out... thanks for posting... and informing us so elegantly. Richard

Thanx, thanx, thanx

You honor the memory of Malalai Kakar so aptly here. Yours, Chuck PS: Violence against women seems epidemic worldwide, but nowhere is it more heinous than when blessed/urged by religious viewpoint/perspective. And in saying this, I'm not limiting "religious" to Islam.

Hallelujah Chuck

Harm against women or others blessed or urged by ANY religion is Blasphemy! Respectfully, Rett: "Two things stand in the way of a liberal doing what he thinks is best for people. One, he doesn't have enough power and two, we have too much freedom. If he figures out how to overcome either then we are in real trouble." Rett

The great harm religion has

The great harm of *religion* through the ages... You would think after all these centuries, the taste for blood would have been abated. But no, war rages in one form or another. I'm sick to death of it. ~A
