The Blue House

I can't bring myself
to clean up my house.
I have shit everywhere,
ready to throw it all out.

But I can't.... No I won't,
it just wouldn't be me,
tomorrow I'll feel better,
it'll be spotlessly cleaned;

or maybe the next day,
it really doesn't matter
no-one I care to impress,
fuck it... I'll do it later.

LMAO!!

Ahh the musings of a packrat! I got an A+ in procrastination. Hey, when you're done cleaning your house, want to come over and do mine? Or visa versa? I love the defeat in your last line. I'm sure many have uttered the exact same words. :~) ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- "If you've ever emptied the back of your pickup truck by driving backward really fast and slamming on the brakes, you might be a redneck" - Jeff Foxworthy Bill Engvall: "that's how we moved"

good write.... I spent many years being a pack rat. Now with the invention of the internet... it got worse. This is a great poem anyone can relate to.... Who wants to live in a house that is like a museum anyway... I like the lived in look............................................ Boring people have spotless houses Patty

Hey Richard

This reminds me of the guy who gets a feeling to exercise, lays down and waits for the feeling to pass. LOL!!! I can also easily relate to this. Thanks Eddie

Hello

I love this, it's exactly how I feel when ma gets on me to do some cleaning. I usually won't clean until I feel like it, so basically until flies move in and it smells of things I can't find or see (but, she'd probably get around to it). My ma and I are crazy pack rats. I have every movie stub from all the movies I've seen. Pictures that make me cringe, books I don't even like, old magazines, the usual crap. She always complains about how much junk we have.. it's still around. Even after the move, we're slowly adding to our 'junk' archives. I'd offer some criticism.. fuck it, I'll do it later. (kidding, I have none, just love that line.. something I'm sure everyone says at least once a day) kudos Richard

Hi Richard

Great thoughts mate.. People and they’re shit, the comforts of hanging on, The worse of letting go is the fact that, at the point of parting/letting go there is a tendency to justify not trashing it, I can’t stand clutter so periodically I call on a skip and the rest of the house squeals, Liked this a lot…..Great thought Regards……..Peter ~~~"I am not afraid of tomorrow, for I have seen yesterday, and I love today."~~~

Hope all is well on your side of the world... clutter is worldwide and I think we as being the thinking beings we are think we need more than we do.... thanks for stopping by and reading Richard

Ode to the House of Messy

I clean myself to death at work, making the place spotless whenever I leave. My place right now is a disaster because I'm all "cleaned out" when I get home and crash. I had the hardest time cleaning my old room, I used to get a weird sense of security from it and hated it when it was clean. Scrapbooking is a popular activity on a scary level with women in this state and I've made all kinds of cynical jokes about scrapbooking circles only for that reason. I've been looking at all the things I keep though and I might have to scrapbook one day just to keep things orderly. Just had to say I relate and this gave me a big smile.

Hi Whitetea....

thanks for stopping in and feeling this little write.. have you ever noticed, or maybe its just me, but when someone "pops over" the house is always a mess, oh well.. like you, I do enough cleaning at work and by the time I get home I'm past that... thanks Richard

A Revealing Write

Yes Richard. That is exactly it. When I read it, I thought to myself: "thats me alright". Thanks for making me realise that I am not the only one to feel that way.

Hi Leonard...

thanks for reading and relating... imagine that... people are the same all over the world... I was trying to be funny, but many feel that folks are different. I don't! I believe we all have the same basic feelings and thoughts... and it doesn't matter where we are from or what nationality we are or religion or lack there of... people... we are as unique as we think we are but there is always someone that can relate, in fact, most can... I appreciate your words Richard

The blue House

Hello Richard You made me laugh so. At present a bit low? I needed a laugh, just to know i still exist. Well i know where your at. I find it hard to throw anything out. It is part of me. People have to take me as i am. But they know I am an artist writer photographer musician of sorts. So people know i am not ordinary (how boring that would be) I am totally insane to do the things i do.. But I have an orderly mess. I can find what i want. But the motivation i need i would clear this all in an instant. maggie Electricblue

Great one!

If that isn't the universal poem, I don't know what is. As long as I have a path to the important places (bed, bath, fridge and computer), the rest can wait, and wait, and wait.......... John

Good

flow again, and i like the nihilistic attitude this poem has, this is extremely refreshing and it has a lightweight literary touch, hence its refreshing quality, shall be reading more of yours-
