Dreams of Failure

The dream always differentBut, always the sameAlways you teeter on the brinkDisaster never far off! Dream I You're trying to find a classroomYou search and searchDown an endless corridorThat twists and turnsBut, you never find it! Dream II You're working on a paper*The paper, never finishedGoes on and on without endEvery morning, you wake up thinkingIt's due today, and still not done!  Dream III You arrive for your presentationYou are informed that the topic has been changedYou don't know anything about this new topicYou open your notes, and they're in a foreign languageYour audience speaks a language you've never heard beforeYou try to speak, and they burst into shrieks of laughterYou'll never pass nowYour life is over!  You wake-up drenched in sweatYou graduated years agoYou passedYou didn't failIt was all a dreamWasn't it?

I've had those

Recently for some reason I was back in the plant and there was a bad Hydrogen leak and I was trying to close the valve but it was too hard. Woke the wife up standing on the floor trying to turn the bedpost. Sheesh. Anyway, to brass tacks. First three line had always in each line. You might want to consider using different words. Other than that all I can think of is Dream III was real, you went into the english as a second language class. *G* Good write sir. Somewhat terrifying. Respectfully, Rett: "Two things stand in the way of a liberal doing what he thinks is best for people. One, he doesn't have enough power and two, we have too much freedom. If he figures out how to overcome either then we are in real trouble." Rett

Thanks Rett!

I can't think of anything to replace the word "always" at the moment, but I would certainly be open to suggestions. I'm glad you liked the poem. Sincerely, Michael

Michael

I like how you questioned yourself at the end. I hope that this is not an autobiographical write. If so, here's to some better dreams, eh? lol @ Rett.... you crack me up. At least it was the bed post, and not a faucet. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- "If you've ever emptied the back of your pickup truck by driving backward really fast and slamming on the brakes, you might be a redneck" - Jeff Foxworthy Bill Engvall: "that's how we moved"

Thanks Jess!

This poem is autobiographical. I don't usually use dream material for poems. They definitely come from a different place than regular inspiration. I wasn't sure whether this material was going to work as a poem, or not. I'm glad you liked it. Hopefully, I will have some better dreams. Sincerely, Michael
