Slip Slide

Slip slide into this world of mine.
Where everything is surreal.
Forget about reality; and time.
This is a place where nothing is what you'll feel.

Everything is distorted; black becomes white.
Rooms will spin, faster than a top.
You'll be scared of your own shadow - recoiling in fright.
You'll beg to God to make it all stop.

Nothing will make it cease, though.
The toxins will run their course.
This will frighten you even more so.
You'll scream until you're hoarse.

So next time you're looking for an escape.
And should you turn to this form
Go n-éirí an bóthar leat! *
You can't say you weren't warned.

*Go n-éirí an bóthar leat! - Have a good journey (in Irish)

Acid

Jess, This brought me memories of the early 70's, and the incredible trip I took. It was fun until it became scary! Led Zeppelin, Iron Butterfly, the Doors, Janice Joppilen. thanks for putting the fear of God in me again. LOL Eddie

LMFAO

Actually, I did have "Captain Jack" by Billy Joel playing when this was written.... guess it was a subconscience influence as I was trying to find something to write about.... Ahhh! Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Hendrix, 70's classic rock in general... yeah baby! As for the fear of God, I think the fear of Mother was instilled stronger than anything else! She may be smaller than me, but she can still kick my ass right good. God will be who I answer to in the end, so I gotta stay on the straight n' narrow anyway..... no psychodelic trips for me! Thanks, friend. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- "If you've ever emptied the back of your pickup truck by driving backward really fast and slamming on the brakes, you might be a redneck" - Jeff Foxworthy Bill Engvall: "that's how we moved"

v. touching

it's amazing how God created such things... and how some of them save patients lives and destroy others...they're like two sided knives...one side treats and the other kills. very well expressed...enjoyable one...thank you Jess

Thanks for the memories, as a child of the 60's I took one trip. Grandma always said do not take drugs satan will posses you. She was right. One bad trip. The end. Patty

Thank you!

Amal - well... wasn't quite going for the duality of drugs (actually to be honest I don't know what I was going for) but thanks for the comments all the same! Kaz - glad you liked! That puppy is precious... Ian - Drugs could be glorious for all I know - haven't really tried them. As I said, this is not a personal experience, just thought that this is what it would be like. Apparently it's an accurate description of acid! LOL! Patty - Anything that would cause me to believe that little bugs are crawling all over me, or that the boogeyman is behind me, can stay very very far away from me! ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- "If you've ever emptied the back of your pickup truck by driving backward really fast and slamming on the brakes, you might be a redneck" - Jeff Foxworthy Bill Engvall: "that's how we moved"

Am aware of all the earlier comments but...

- this poem reminds me of some of my dreams. Or how I sometimes see the world. Which explains a lot! The price of creativity. Recall refusing LSD in the 70s partly because I was mad enough already!!!!! Excellent write, especially as you had to project yourself so to speak. Cheers. Paul.

Oh and I forgot to say...

- your title reminds me of the "Sliders" series. Which I liked a lot if light entertainment. Liked your use of Irish too. P.

Tripping down the cobblestone

Getting high and feeling groovy. Good write Jess and damn good message. Been there, done that, won't do it again. Bad news. May you arrive in heaven two hours before the devil knows you're dead. Respectfully, Rett: "Two things stand in the way of a liberal doing what he thinks is best for people. One, he doesn't have enough power and two, we have too much freedom. If he figures out how to overcome either then we are in real trouble." Rett
