Then My Heart Spoke

A screaching of brakes, a tremendous impact of two cars
and shattering of glass
Pain, confusion.  Not able to breathe
What just happened

This isn't me. It must be a dream
Who's blood is this.  It can't be mine
I hear a voice in my mind telling me
"You must put your foot on the brake"

"You must stop the car" I saw the barbed wire
Through the broken windshield as I stopped the car
Why can't I breathe
I closed my eyes to rest

And opened them again in fear
How can I breathe if I do not fight for my air
A bright sunny day, I saw a brilliant white light
That began to envelope me. I could not see
the sun through the white light

Then slowly, the question came to me
I wonder if I am dying
My mind said, "it's ok, I am ready."   I was given a choice
And my heart, with a sharp pain, said  "No", what

Will my family do?"  Not a word was spoken out loud
But God heard the words of my heart
Then as suddenly as the white light appeared, it was gone
It was then I heard foot steps running on the gravel outside

And a voice hollering, "Hang on, I'm coming."  With
much encouragement and the Jaws of Life
I was freed from the mangled car
Finally able to relax and breathe

I was told later, that I  nearly slipped away
more than once during the long ambulance ride
I was not aware, it was only blissful sleep to me
I have often wondered what was on the other side

Of that brilliant white light. Someday, I will finally see

I have been in two auto accidents with my mother, and I've been hit walking before, it is a very tramatic thing. Never been in one this terrible, glad you made it through.

Uncanny. That is the only word I can find at the mo to describe this. I just noticed I haven't added you to my buddy list yet. Can't believe I haven't! I will rectify that post-haste! Excellent, moving, and powerful write. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- "Johnny was a chemist’s son, but Johnny is no more. I know of people who have similar experiences. When God talks it's not through words, but the mind. Hope all is well with you. Patty

Then My Heart Spoke

Wow! What a wonderful write about a terrible happening in your life. The pleasant side of the story is that you are safe to recall the moment. Linda, how true you are when you say: God hears the words of heart. It is so, indeed! I quote here a Quatrain from a celebrated poet of Urdu Language Josh Malihabadi I translated into English: When my boat sails smoothly alone The pride of the sun and wind are blown My open sail in the midst of the sea Stops the breath of the furious cyclone Mohammad

I just noticed, I think I have been misspelling your name. Such a gentleman, you never corrected me. Thank you for reading, and thank you for the translation of the Quatrain

About the misspelled name I quote Shakespear (which play I don't remember): "What is in a name, a rose by any other name will smell as sweet". Pardon me, if the quote reflects an element of self praise. You have praised me any way. Mohammad
