Rett
Hey everyone!
I don't know how long before I am back. It depends on the power situation. I evacuated to Austin and was okay. My house sustained quite a bit of damage, but I have good insurance. I lost no trees, but a lot of limbs. Some as big around as my waist. I am typing this while on a generator so won't be here afterward. We have water and sewer but no power. Thank goodness a cool front came in. Nights in the 60's and days low to mid 80's. Lots of cleanup. I didn't have time to let everyone know so I apologize for that. I will get back online as soon as I have power. Be well all and I miss you all!
Respectively,
Rett
Update: Been home 5 days. Still no power. Plenty of food and Ice and we have water and sewer. Will be running the generator for very short times since I am down to the last $10.00 in my pocket until wednesday. Everything is fine. My wife won't let me work on the yard or house today since I collapsed yesterday from exhaustion. We were very lucky and the eyewall missed my little town. Houston, Galveston and Surfside beach are in pretty sad shape. In spite of complaints you may hear on TV and radio, the Federal, State and local governments are working together well and there is no lack of water and Ice and MRE's, which, btw are not bad, some are actually good. We have gas, sodas and all. no worries friends. Ba back when I can.
Roses are red
storms are violent
But the blessing is
lots or silence.
Respects,
Rett
PS, thanks all for the well wishes!
Update: Day Six,
Still no power. Latest word is "After Thursday". Still on Generator. My bank is "actually helping it's customers". They are allowing us to skip 2 months worth of loan payments with no penalty. That freed me up $381.00 right away so am good for a few more days. Still have plenty of food and ice and water and sewer service going without a hitch. I have a pile of limbs and brush 6 feet high by 10 feet deep by 148 feet long. Still cutting and cleaning after a days rest and recovery. Just too used to working hard all my life and tend to forget I can't push anymore like that because of my heart. The good news is that for the first time in 25 years I have a flat tummy with no belly poking out like I am pregnant. Everything has it's little pluses I guess. I am down to 150 with all my clothes on and my 32 inch waist pants are now too big. Looks like I may finally get back into size 30 after over 25 years. Was up to a size 34 8 months ago and they were getting tight. I still have 3 or 4 big limbs to cut up and then lots of raking before I can even think about mowing the yard. It is a slow process but I am getting there. I appreciate everyone's comments and will answer each as soon as electricity is restored. I am making judicial use of the generator so not on very long at a time. Y'all don't forget about the old man now. Later.
Respectfully,
Rett
