Hell is a Swirling Sea

 My mind circles endlessly

 In a furious frenzy

Like a Cat trying to catch its own tail

 No beginning; no ending

 Just circles and circles

That revolve in a never ending cycle

 I  desperately try hard

 To dive below the circles

But I am caught in the cross current

 Of Thoughts bubbling

 Like fishermen’s floats

 Cast in a Choppy Sea

 I can’t seem to penetrate

 The inner sanctum

That has withdrawn into a tortoise shell

 This cyclic thought process

 Has me in a search

For a way out of this tumultuous hell

 The only way out

Of this disarming distraction

 Is indeed yet another distraction

So I try to think of things

But I am not really there

Because at the back of my mind

 Is the endless bubbling

 Of unfinished thought

Churning furiously in a vacuous state

Holy cow Leonard

This is just like me when I was in mania near psychotic state of mind. How you used the cat chasing its tail is great. It is how the mind feels. My movement through the poem was steady - nice. Thank you, Mark Walk me into the night and leave me there for I am not afraid. Just give me a ton of opiates ;)

Great write Leonard

That is a lot like my wife describes it when she is having one of her episodes. That truly seems to be hell! Respectfully, Rett: "Two things stand in the way of a liberal doing what he thinks is best for people. One, he doesn't have enough power and two, we have too much freedom. If he figures out how to overcome either then we are in real trouble." Rett

Lovely and dark. Hope this isn't a true story. Well thought out, and well put together write. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- "If you've ever emptied the back of your pickup truck by driving backward really fast and slamming on the brakes, you might be a redneck" - Jeff Foxworthy Bill Engvall: "that's how we moved"
