Secrets & Sin

Thoughts drifting, glistening
Like crystals reflecting
From the morning sunlit surf,

Hopes dashed caught splashing
within the ebbing tide,
Life youth withering,
Beneath the sun drenched skies,

Time curves what is,
what was then, passing within
the blink of a sigh,

Feelings succumbed to moments,
when pain - hurting thoughts,
smack you right between the eyes,

He’s alone at land's edge, reminiscing,
As he falls to his knees
“Yes”
Just wondering, what the hell,
Staring upon the horizon,
As the memory of his love
drifted quietly by,

Trapped by conscience
And of aging guilt,
Situations left; like salt stains,
Etched upon the land
And truths forever lie
Entombed within the sand,

His tears bleed falling,
leaching sadness into his
cupped old hands,
grieving the outcome of friends
and of love.
of which both,
he has somewhat denied

Screams echoing thundering
from deep down inside,
remembering a time
to when shame stood by,
and Sodom rose
and Gomorrah posed,
yet lovers danced
swaying as one,
their souls embraced
and hearts entwined,
a momentary bliss
In the essence of time,

16th September 2008.

THanks O,...

It's been a labour of love, the theme has been the same from the outset, but the journey to conclusion has been somewhat trying, I think that at times - we have all stood at that edge, reflecting, Thanks O, to be commented on such that you have found my work worthy of calling me a poet, Thanks for your thoughts and taking the time to read...... Kindest Regards... Peter ~~~~~~~~~Creativity Is to think more efficiently~~~~~~~~~~

Aren't similes ...

great? Esp. when you (meaning you, i.e. Peter) so ably employ them. Thanx, Chuck PS: Re "lands edge," do you mean to write "land's edge"? And "Entomb" as "Entombed"?
R

rider68

17 years 7 months ago

Hi Chuck

Yes they really are, (In answer to your question) Esp, when they are applied and used within the right context, which is why-now i may not produce as much work, but rather work harder to write with depth and deeper understanding......(if that makes sense), As to the corrections "yes to Entomb"...As should be "Entombed" But lands as to land's...? I'm stuck as I am unable to define, The dictionary dosen't distinguish, But now that you question I think you are right........ Thanks Chuck..and thanks for the compliment, Respectfully Peter ~~~~~~~~~Creativity Is to think more efficiently~~~~~~~~~~

Hi Chrys

I don't wish to sound smug, But this attempt felt different, can't put my finger on it, but rather pleased with the result, Feed back is to me so important, it encourages one to raise or try to raise the standard, To receive endorsements from people you have high respect for just make it that much better, Thank you really, and thanks for all the support you have given alone the way, A Dear Friend, My Kindest Regards Peter ~~~~~~~~~Creativity Is to think more efficiently~~~~~~~~~~

Hi Richard

"can’t say anything that hasn’t been said…" I think that is dowm to PMS (Post Monotony syndrome) I have the same problem Rich- and i think it's down to where the standard, "general standard" has been raised, It's finding something new/different to say,....... But really, what matters is that you came and have read, and have shown continued support, Thanks alot Richard for that" Take care friend..... Very Best Regards... Secrets and sin

Richard- congrats on the spotlight, I read this poem 3 times and the more I read the more I got out of it. Beautiful words, good imagination. I like how you wove the words. I loved the last stanza, but all were very well written. The title pulled me right in. sincerely, Patty

Peter, this one is a masterpiece

Like a fish, I was hooked by the title and line by line, stanza by stanza, I was reeled in until, at last, I was raised into the glorious sunlight and died upont the shores of the picture you painted. All else I can say would only lessen a great write. You sir, captivated me. Well done. Respectfully, Rett: "Two things stand in the way of a liberal doing what he thinks is best for people. Thanks Rett

Though harder to write or should i say to find that - to write about that works well, is a challenge, I will say that i was pleased with this, Thanks for taking the time to comment and expressing your kind thoughts, Much respects..
