A Bumpy Ride
I rode a "rolly-coaster",
and I did so, with much Pride.
I was old enough,
and I had the "stuff";
but, I knew it'd be a bumpy ride.
I attended all my schooling.
"Do your homework !", my Momma cried.
And as her number one son,
I also got my chores done;
and it was I, who finally sighed.
Then, I started my own life,
after others, I had "spied".
And through all their tears,
I grew my own fears;
and I knew, it'd be a bumpy ride.
Then came the day to stop playing,
and I would no more be denied.
I did my level best,
to try and best, the rest;
Momma's knowledge, well applied.
I married, not soon after
and with these women, I did abide.
We had children, of course...
both unions ended in Divorce;
My God ! That was a bumpy ride !
Now, through all of my life, after both ex-wives,
I try and forget each "bride"...
every day feels the same,
and lonliness is my name;
Boy Howdy ! Momma never lied !
And after all's done and said, I know I've made my bed...
but, in this life, I really have tried;
so, you better beware,
and not go there;
because it's all been a bumpy ride !
And now, after all of my iniquities
and consequences, with which I try to hide;
I now know the rules don't bend,
and that Time is still my friend,
so I enjoy Life, and it's bumpy ride !
and I did so, with much Pride.
I was old enough,
and I had the "stuff";
but, I knew it'd be a bumpy ride.
