Sanctuary

Your mood is the language in which your body speaks to mine.

Your heart is a perfect unblemished stone, beating in the cavern of its syncopated isolation.

I beg hardly more of you than to scrabble forever along the jagged cliffs of your emotions.

To bathe myself, palpably defenseless and exposed, in the frosty moonlight of your acrid, acid, smiles.

Stripped beyond the marrow of the bone, to the naked manifest purity of the white hot ashes of my tattered and tortured soul.

For YOU, my deceased and decomposing treasure; are the baleful, gleaming glance of the scaly-faced Basilisk.

Residing in the shadows of the saguaro cactus, in my windswept desert rock garden.

Kitty Cat

Gotta watch out close with those Saguaro, they house some pretty creepy beings. Really liked this one, Cat! Awesome, Cat!

Here I am with my guilty conscience because I have not yet caught up with you, and there you are, in the stream. I pick up this little pebble the stream offers to me, and I find that it is a jewel. Regards, Ink

the sanctuary that lays within our chests

Hi Cat I like the serene style, the shape of the poem - here I found poetic maturity combined with dreaming as well. The poem has fluency, figures of speech, inner fire that quenches these words. Well done! Cheers, Marius

I like this

its the kind of poem that gives me emotional responses far beyond its mere words. Love and hatred, desperation and defenselessness against one's own feelings. This is really good. Respectfully Jim "Laws and rules don't kill freedom: narrow-minded intolerance does" : Race

Hi Cat, good to see you back

What did you think of my title?........................Love it, Very apt. How was my language use?............................... Outstanding as usual. What did you think of the rhythm or pattern or pacing?.. Perfect, again as usual. How does this theme appeal to you?..I really liked this, the theme is expressive and keeps the mind moving from moment to moment. How was the beginning/ending of the poem?.. The beginning was very good and the ending almost took my breath away. That out of the way, I thought it ran along my nerves like electricity and burst into my heart like anguish warmed by the sun. In other words, Awesome! Respectfully, Rett: "Next time you think you're perfect, walk on water."
