John, & the Friendship Bag

Farewell, my good friend
I'll see you 'round the bend,
another day, or another time;

balanced were our books,
we shared no, dirty looks,
not being together more, was our only crime.

So, now you've gone up ahead,
and, when all's done and said,
I'm left holding our friendship bag;

and, it feels much like half,
without hearing your laugh,
proving Life's, but a temporary drag.

But, soon we shall meet
and, it'll be such a treat,
but, I believe you may not feel the same;

for, the next time, my friend
you set the board up, again
for, you owe me another chess game.

Oooh Barbara, you are wicked,

complimenting Doc on the same metaphor you used in "A Friendship Lost". Two new and one revised poems on lost friendship in as many days. Is it the time of year? Felt along with this one Doc, good write. I'll let you spot the couple of superfluous commas in there. cheers, Jess
