Hospital Stay

Hospital Stay

Laying in the bed
I am tested for seizures
hooked up to an EEG video
I sit watching my brain waves
on a computer screen

When words is lost,
my mind wanders
unable to grasp
who I am, where I am
how I got here

Jaded I feel witless
no sense of self
in this wasted flesh
looking for something
unobtainable

With ebb, potency
I bear flashes of heat
brought on by
stresses hidden
building deep within

Self consciousness

Lose of sense of self which this poem expresses in the second and third stanzas is tied to first stanza where the poet watches her brain waves and the last stanza with stresses unknown. This presents sense of momentary siezure both in the form and structure of the poem as well as the state of consciousness. I really like this poem. Well done and best wishes.

Barbara, you captured it well

sorry my friend ((friendly hugs)) There are times that I would love to just scream about life being unfair and all that nonsense, but life is life. Sometimes I would like to hear you absolutely blast out and the way things are. It might do you good. *S* Wonderful write my friend! I think you said it extremely well. Smiles:) Barbara I really appreciate the kind words. if i blast the way things really are i probably would do good, but hate myself later as i have been call psycho when i do blast off. I have some old poems from when i first started writing about my feelings and my family says i sound psycho. i decided to write and post different here.

It is a terrible feeling and you have expressed it so skillfully. I could not have done as good a job. I hope everything turns out okay. Always, Cat
