Autumn

Frost on morning grass

Crunching with leaves under foot

Autumn shows her face.

Hi there,

Thank you Ian, I have fallen in love with Haiku poetry. It reminds me of my drawings. I love to draw pictures with words. Haiku allows me to do that in less time then my pastels and charcoal will. P.S. it isn't as messy either. :) Dana

Excellent piece. The only problem I see is where I am at. We have 3 seasons. January, February and Hot. Rett: "Life is like a beach. Salty, gritty, somewhat fishy and at other times, downright crabby!" Rett 2008.

Hi Rett

I love the cool months of autumn. I bet you guessed that though. I have a few more poems on the subject. I thought of posting them together. I was in Texas in 1987. It was HOT, I was at Fort Hood visiting. Its beautiful country, but Hot, in May. Thanks Always, Dana

Dana, if you think it's hot in May

Try June and July and August! I am not kidding when I say this part of Texas has three season. January, February and Hot! Respectfully, Rett: "Life is like a beach. Salty, gritty, somewhat fishy and at other times, downright crabby!" Rett 2008.

Haiku...

I had heard of it before coming here but had never tried it and never was a fan of structured poetry before but since coming here I am fast becoming more rounded in my likes and understandings.. this is an excellent piece! and you are right, it is much neater than pastels and charcoals. Richard

I thank you,

Hi Richard, I am so please to have my Haiku pieces recieved so well. I never thought of structure in poetry as a good thing either. I thought it would limit the creative part of it. As I said though, this actually lets me combine my favorite things. I love to take photographs, I sketch, paint and write. So Haiku to me is another way to capture scenes in words. I still love freeform. :) Dana

Thank you

Janice, I was born in the fall. I don't find any other season as stirring. I just love it. If I could magically change the other seasons to fall I would. Dana

Fall

I like this one,Dana. I too, like the fall. I am originally from Ohio. We had such fun piling up the fallen leaves and jumping in to them as kids. Later, when they were burned, they gave off such a great aroma

I still do burn them

I'm in Kentucky I still go out on a cool October night and burn them. We sit around the firepit and scare the kids with stories.lol. My son and niece pile them up and dive in. Theres nothing like this time of year. Dana

Hi Jess,

I thank You for so strong a comment. I think I have found a form of poetry that will keep me challenged and creative. I am reading other asian style poetry now. I don't really find it hard once I read it. I love words and for me to find a way of saying only the necessary and still express the feeling and beauty is magical. Oh, I have more haiku poems. You will see more. I am working on the other seasons today. I did seven on Autumn, the other morning. I want to get seven on each season, before I start on other subjects. I wont put them all on but I will put a few. Thank again Jess, Dana
