Liberalism Rising, one man's view

Liberalism Rising, one man's view

East Coast West Coast
Raise your glasses in a toast
Grab your drinks and hold them high
Charge them to the other guy

They should not have to learn
The teachers are much too stearn
Make the children dumb as bricks
Teach them nonsense, make it stick

Everyone should know it's wrong
Economics don’t belong
Teach them sexuality
Instead of actuality

History I must confide
Really must be put aside
And responsibility
Is just rank stupidity

Keep them ignorant you see
They won't know differently
Teach them cheating in our school
Confiscate the Golden Rule

Red pencils can traumatize
As an F you realize
A failure makes them feel bad
A pastel will make them glad

Wimpify each mother’s son
Generation of the dumb
Don’t teach them to be a man
Make sure they won't understand

Pass them with a failing score
Give free condoms at the door
Don't teach them to read and write
But teach them sex is alright

interesting thought

Smiles:) Barbara I see much in the school that your poem talks about and it is alarming. Being liberal your view is very well expressed here. What does Wimpify mean?

I am not really

sure there is a word "wimpify". I am using it to describe the non-masculine and thus non-competitive way they want boys to be these days. Competition creates combativeness and thus to them is bad. They want all the males to be wimps so they are easier to control. Thus they have "tugs of peace" with no winners or losers. Respectfully, Rett

T he down fall of America...

is indeed the fall of the education system, making our future Generations into a bunch of tender footed Pussies! America would have never become the great country it is today if we had always undermined ourselves this way, I fear what we have will be lost within the next 25 years. It's a shame! Good factual write my friend, of the saddened state of the good old U.S.A. Sincerely, Mark

Thank you my friend

I am very afraid that will happen. Right now Russia has invaded Georgia. A year ago, President Bush tried to get NATO it extend the Management Action Program to Georgia and the Ukraine. That would allowed them to do certain things preparatory to entering NATO. This was vetoed by Germany and France. Old Europe holds the blame along with Russia for this. Now I am waiting for the Liberal Left to find someway to blame what is happening on Bush. You know they will, just wait. I know you understand the meaning of my poem on our school system. I wonder how many actually will? Respectfully, Rett: "Life is like a beach. Salty, gritty, somewhat fishy and at other times, downright crabby!" Rett 2008.

PS

Wonder how long it will take our speaker of the house Nazi Pelosi to figure out a way to blame President Bush? Rett: "Life is like a beach. Salty, gritty, somewhat fishy and at other times, downright crabby!" Rett 2008.

The education system has been a failure for a long time, now. I saw it with my kids, and now with my grandkids. I makes me so mad. My youngest daughter homeschools. Sometime ago, it was proposed that teachers should have to take a test at least every 2 years, to show they were keeping up. They threw a fit and won. I hear they have a very strong union. I am a nurse and I have to take at least 20 hours of continuing education every 2 years, just to keep my license. That does not include the testing that I must pass at the hospital each year to keep my job. It is the same for any nurse. It is the arrogance of some of these teachers that gets me. Do they think they are the only ones with some education. I have met some excellent teachers, who really care, however if I were a kid in school nowadays, I would probably be very verbal. Rett for President Nazi Pelosi, how funny , I just caught that after I submitted my comment Darned if I'm not going to go and get political

Thanks Linda

There are some dedicated teachers out there, but it is my belief most of the GOOD ones are hamstrung by the union. We keep throwing more and more money after less and less teaching of the correct kind. A teacher should be tested and have to keep up with changes just like the rest of us. When I worked at the plant, we constantly were taking safety classes and learning about new processes and new technology. That was the requirement of the job. We took frequent tests on our knowledge and you passed, not with 60 or 70 or even 80%. You had to score above 85% if you wanted to keep your job and it was critical because lives were at stake. Our children are no less important because in the long run, their lives and ours depends on their knowledge. It scares me that even PHD's these days do not know the difference between there, their and they're. My oldest grandson didn't even know that Hydrogen and Oxygen combine to make water and he is starting high school this year. What are they teaching... Oh well, shut up Rett. *LOL* Thanks for reading and commenting, Rett: "Life is like a beach. Salty, gritty, somewhat fishy and at other times, downright crabby!" Rett 2008.

Thanks Brian

I am really scared because I think it may be too late. There are fewer of us and more of them. They swallow whatever the media says with no question. If the media tells them oil companies or WalMart of whatever is evil, they don't look at anything, just agree. If they say we have to eat tofu and quit eating meat they blindly follow. They have been brainwashed into believing the government should meet their every need, the government should take care of trespassers (I will not call them illegal immigrants) which, to me, is like someone breaking into your house and you calling the police only to have them tell you, "sorry, you have to let them live here". Anyway, thanks for reading and commenting. I appreciate it Rett: "Life is like a beach. Salty, gritty, somewhat fishy and at other times, downright crabby!" Rett 2008.

All right

now I have to say something.. loved that analogy between illegal imigrants and trespassers... that is right on the money! Liberals and Conservatives.. I feel most of the people that tend to associate themselves with only either, or... are unaware.. and my listening mind shuts down from their views.. The Education System does need a lot of help.. in my middle of the road view it stems from parents who refuse to correct their children.. maybe we could blame Dr. Spock.. or we could recognise the problems and think for ourselves... When I was raised, I was taught to respect.. there were some hard lessons but mostly they came from my family not school. although when I was in school there was still paddling allowed. You've raised my thoughts with this piece and the comments to it. Hey, by the way... some of the History I was taught was fiction. like the cherry tree and the first battle flag. Richard

Right on Richard

As a conservative, I can go either way Democrat or Republican. I am not a right wing republican nor am I a left wing liberal Democrat. I am a conservative. Earlier on a poem I mentioned I used to be a liberal but Jimmy Carter cured me of that. Then I became a conservative Democrat, but there are no more left so I became a conservative. I have to agree it isn't ALL the school, a lot of it rests right on the parents shoulders. No longer are kids taught to respect other people, but the schools are reinforcing all the bad also. Yes, we were taught a lot of fiction in school and now they are teaching ten times as much. It is sad that parents and other do not step up to the plate and say ENOUGH. Even Dr. Spock in his later years admitted he was wrong and the old adage of "spare the rod and spoil the child" had a lot of truth in it. I do not advocate beating a child as I know how that is, but a spanking or grounding does work wonders. Once my kids got too old to spank grounding and also giving them chores and all worked well. With the grounding they could earn a reduced sentence by doing extra work around the house by extra cleaning, picking up the yard etc, but only a "reduced sentence". *LOL* Man, I am just rolling aren't I? Sorry. What we really need seems to be in short supply these days and that is common sense. Think something through before making a judgment and don't just take what our news media tells you as gospel, investigate! Thanks Richard, as always I love your comments and astute responses.
