Just This Poem

A poem is a reminder
when all the colours of the rainbow
have faded
there is a bridge,
cross it to the other side
listen to the river of words flowing under
all that Silence

A poem is the colour Rouge
passion
is the fire
red
turns to white and
blows away in an exhale
freezing in a river of dreams

A poem is the hunger of youth
dining
on ourselves,
days pass away,
less than hungry vultures,
we pick on words

A poem is a just Tormentor
the wanton flesh
weeps
at its command:
we die slowly
with every breath we take,

suicidal dreams upon satin sheets
milk clouds in our eyes

a short poem of distinction.

2.

You Are Despicable My Love

I cried myself to sleep last night
and still
You keep opening old wounds,
again and again,
my faithful servant,
My Despicable Love,
You dig a deep hole for my
soul
to pass through
and for each and every insight,
my bleeding serves
to remove these
brilliant colours from my light,
I take my last breath
again and again,

What am I to do with all this Silence?

Last night the Perseid star showers passed through
my veil of tears.

3.

Titan Arum

They say it is the tallest tulip
that gets noticed
no matter what the colour,
and so loses
its stately head,

the Sunflower grows
reminiscent
in any patch
of earth, wayside or field,
an ode to joy,
and the
seeds of its perfection
can never be tall enough
to crown the sun's glory.

the night-blooming jasmine
with its forever scent,
climbs over walls, into open windows,
and in a 100 years of solitude
the corpse plant
blooms only once.

Something about these always

Something about these always leads me to the first and last poems as favourites. It's not that I don't enjoy the second, but that the other two somehow swallow it. The first is my favourite. Now to beat you up a little: "cross it to the other side of I" would work just as well without the "of I" - but may change your meaning; it just disturbs the flow of the stanza. "passion is the fire how that" - is the "how" needed? "less than hungry vultures" - "no more than" would imply the fact that we are no better than, or similar to, the vultures. Those last three lines sort of throw me, too. The poem seems like it could finish without them. I'm finished picking on you now. Since the second one doesn't pull me in the way the first and third do, and the third looks perfect to me as it is. You may now use or discard them, or flog me as you wish! ;) love, ~ Ronda

awww. most folks liked #2 in

awww. most folks liked #2 in this trilogy... not to worry though.. I am not ambivalent to the point of loving all 3 and hating them simultaneously; it takes a toll on me emotionally as their *parent* ;-), and two out of 3 ain't bad as Meat Loaf sang http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWfq2wFhYmg Fixing first two as you suggested. Leaving 3rd suggestion to the wolves. ;-) Love, Hannah p.s. suicide is a finishing touch... sometimes I actually contemplate it like last night... watch for a suicide poem soon...
