Merciless

She hadn't wanted it to end this way,
so damned dramatic,
she always cursed pity
under red red lips
love hardly ever comes with a calling card
like the old love scenes with thin-skinned ladies who
faint at the drop of a hat, or men with
moustaches and swagger,
death takes no prisoners of the heart,
the last sentence ends
abruptly
no matter how long it seems
the night will come soon enough,
a hooded serpent's kiss,

she hadn't wanted to end it this way
Eve was not without mercy.

Hi Linda, was I whining? I think I was, maybe I was really howling at the moon, perhaps I was lonely out there on the edge. :-) Thank you. Anna
