Phony Words

I've tasted every word you've said
and they've all been hard to swallow,
they might make sense,
to one of the dense,
but, the train of thought's
been hard to follow.

I can't listen to you anymore,
so deep, in these waters have I waded;
you and I are "straight",
but now, it's way too late,
too many hopes and dreams have faded.

So I'll let you in on something
and you should listen if you dare;
concentrate and focus,
drop the lies and hocus-pocus,
or for your life, no one will care.

With your heart on my sleeve,
I've really got to leave,
but, you'll be one I'll be thinking of;
those words will fade away,
but for, forever and a day,
you'll be one that helped me define..."Love".

Smiles:) Barbara this was a wonderful piece to read. the theme flowed well from beginning to end. the title "phony words" is great, just being honest is the best, but not always a easy course to follow.
