Trying Too Hard, Or Not Enough?

Through my pain and thunder
I sit by myself, and start to wonder

When will they notice me?
In the spotlight shall I never be?

Perhaps they think I'm run of the mill
They say he's funny, but he's got no skill

But there are those who think I'm cool
He's no master of meter, but he's no fool

I'm certainly not an active greeter
But at least I'm not a lotus eater

Michael

It's hard with the site's population growing by leaps and bounds, isn't it? I like this piece. ~ Ronda

Thanks for your comment Ronda

It probably has more to do with the fact that I have not written anything good enough yet. Oh well, I will keep on trying. I'm glad you like it! - Michael

he’s got no skill In some

he's got no skill In some places improper English works But in my humble opinion not in poetry He has no skill Or he lacks the skill I would drop the Am I from the title :-) Chrys

I have shamefully neglected your poetry

as I have many other friends. I remember when the site had 50 members and was able to comment on each and every poem posted. I can't promise, but will try to look out for your work more. You have the two most important qualities I value in poetry. Truth and generousity. (why is my spell checker not working? Has anyone else noticed this?) cheers, Jess

I'm mad as a Hatter

loose as a goose and peeled like an onion over the fact that I didn't write this little diddy with such a ring of truth to it. I uderstand the feeling, but respect your elders now, we've waited longer. *L* just kidding man. Damn good write. I'll have to plead guilty to not getting to a lot of yours and will try to do better sir. Respectfully, Rett: "Life is like a beach. Thank you everyone!

Thanks to everyone! Here's the irony. I thought that you would all be upset with me because I set this poem from public access to members only. When I did so, it automatically sent the poem to the top of the stream again. I thought you would be irritated having to read it again. I had no idea that so many people missed it the first time! Sincerely, Michael

*LOL*

Oh, I'm irritated all right, but not at you. At myself. There are so many poem here that at times I tend to miss a lot. All I can say is I try, but sometimes I can't get to them all. Mater of fact, I can't get to all of them period, but I try to do as many as I am capable of in the time allotted. Rett: "Life is like a beach.
