Broken Girl, Follow Your Sibling

Broken Girl

On this sofa, I spend my days
my body hurts, my walk off balance
I read my emails from Neopoet
writing poems all day long

My world around me has collapsed
everything is wrong and nothing is right
my sadness lives within my bones
as I breathe one day at a time

A broken girl summon up happier days
when we were once, a family of six
two left the nest angry as heck
and unprepared for life ahead

Follow Your Sibling

She thinks she has all the answers
so do you, now follow your sister
unprepared for this dark world
they’ll be back with lessons learn

You are the one with reasoning skills
so do not get trapped in their sillies
losing all your just rewards
the end is near, so keep on the watch

All good things come in due time
you can’t insist they happen now
being disrespectful is never the answer
rules of the house will not alter

A humble nest you grew up strong
you now loathe wanting more
the exit is open; the road is spacious
hit the door the locks will change

My patience ran out for brick head kids
trying to take over my modest home
times has change they’ll soon learn
no welfare aide like days of old

Absolutely agree

I raised 3, two boys, one girl. All have been back and all have said that is was as bad as I described. My oldest lives in Houston and so does my youngest. My daughter and grand kids are with us now, not because they have to, but because she is trying to help and does. She brought tears to my eyes a few months back when she told me "Daddy I can honestly say, I never got a spanking I didn't deserve". Her oldest boy is giving her fits and they got into it the other day. She told him that she knew everything he was trying to do because she did it all too and gave us more trouble than any parent should ever deserve. I love the poem and they will learn. That was a brave thing to do and write about. Wonderfully done. Rett: "At twenty, if you are not a Liberal, you have no heart. At Thirty, if you are not a Conservative, you have no brain."
