Three Poems of July 6, 2008
She
She took the parable of time into Her
waterlily hands
placed it
high into the Night
and so
Moon
was born
shining
with Sun's Light.
Peace
You can't take that away from me
you can't curse me with figs
upon your lips
don't pray for me
with a Bukowski poem
bleeding a dark-red truth
like a rosetta stone
unearthed
behind Catherine's
white-washed cottage
You can't keep me in your dark dream
and where the wild columbine grow
near the North yard
the ocean breeze kisses
the grey horizon
like a sand mandala of mercy
and where the transparent sky
falls back into the sea,
I walk through
an open door,
ravaged by the Light,
my begging bowl
burning holes in the
setting sun.
Lillian's Poppies
There are black and white poppies
in Lillian's kitchen
no poppy should ever be
black and white
poppies
are translucent
against the light,
a blood-red orange prayer
in fingers
that can never be tender
enough
to do no harm
in a blazing field
of rage.
She took the parable of time into Her
