Somewhere A Buddha Sits

Somewhere
a Buddha sits
smiling
with Lotus feet….

In Korea they are rioting
NO American beef
police clash
clubs hit
and blood spills
water
hoses away
all signs

Somewhere a Buddha
opens his eyes
angels unfurl wings..

John testifies he’s never
seen a firestorm like the one in
Golden California
raging, still raging
and 60% now agree to offshore drilling
open ANWR
and the swimming pools are mosquito-laden

at Six Flags in Georgia
a teenager scales two fences to a
“Restricted Area”
he is decapitated,
we are shocked

meanwhile in Zimbabwe, the crises of leadership
is resolved, the winner loses…
and Bush speaks about stolen elections..

Somewhere there’s a lesson to be learned

and somewhere the third eye opens,

Lightning crashes.

Kalishana

And another day unfurls . . . Your piece, very descriptive of the goings-on June 28th 2008. The flow was a little rough to me, but none the less I enjoyed it!

Addendum 7/1/08He dialed 911

Addendum 7/1/08 He dialed 911 the other day informed the voice that two robbers were doing their deed in the house next door...and he had a shotgun...the voice said not to do anything the police on the way, but he did... you could here it all on the tape... Ready. Aim. Fire. Two times. He said he was tired of our civil rights being usurped post 9/11 and thugs...anywhere.. especially right next door. The story will unfold and we'll all see what happens. (He had a steady hand and a one-way mind.) I ask you "did the punishment fit the crime"? Does it ever? The crime of being Jewish for instance in death camps throughout Europe. The world was silent. Remember Rwanda? The war being fought for oil, is it really about Xtian vs Muslim? Women and men... has that been re-solved, in any society or religion? And if you're holding the gun or the gun is being aimed at you.. Justice or revenge in the court of public opinion? And me, I'm just tired of all the insanity which can never speak of "justice for all". Peace. Anna

Was it written by Roméo

Was it written by Roméo Dallaire, the Canadian general who commanded the United Nations peacekeeping forces in Rwanda? I saw a PBS special about him. Very few things have affected me more than his brutal honesty with the truth. I suggest every human being on earth see that. Yes. Truth is heavy. ~Anna

Hi Cat. How are you? Glad

Hi Cat. How are you? Glad you're all better now. In a past life were you Rapunzel? I've been growing my hair longer too. Down to middle of my back... all those years of proper cuts! Gone. Always said I'm gonna go out with a waist long braid.. still have a few years. Now about the important stuff... I think we have to tell the truth. And demand no less than that from the powers that be. So far it's been the proverbial see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.. and the evil keeps growing exponentially. We've all been part of the *status quo*...as long as it didn't affect us personally, few have been part of the seeking a solution... even fewer have cared, period. Hugs, Anna

Rapunzel in a past life,

Rapunzel in a past life, LOL! We seem to have the same hair goals in life. p.s. Your poem really touched me, and I would be really glad if the worlds "third eye" were really to open and focus. Always, Cat

I love my life of a poet,

I love my life of a poet, everyone knows exactly what one is speaking of. And the manner in which the words are meant. Even if it is at a high cost ~ an ever-breaking heart. ~A

Threaded by deep meaning Anna

I have always been inspired by Lord Buddha. To me he is one of the greatest to have ever lived on this planet. I like the way you have sewn the various images together to show how hypocritical the world has become and, in the penultimate line: "and somewhere the third eye opens" the message is driven home. The third or the spiritual eye is the seer of all things beyond this world. Only the opening of it will make us aware of our erroneous life style. Take care ... Leonard

Thank you for your seeing

Thank you for your seeing Leonard. May we all do what is necessary to create the world we want to leave our children and grandchildren. I'm not ready to leave until then... To me, the third eye also signifies "being in the world but not of it". Not easy by a long shot. One must be full immersed yet transcendent. ~A

The strange thing is it’s

The strange thing is it's always been this way... it's just that more and more folks are waking up. Much like the *Matrix*. ~A

Yes...

that first one was a great story line... wish I'd written that one... the trouble these days are just the times we are in.. in the old days our news from afar came slow... now.. it is the information age... easily obtained and retained.. right this minute someone is being born as well as somewhere there is a human being dying... life.. I'm glad to be a part of it.. loved your poem.. it took me where I already was and to me that is wonderful... Richard
