Shadow Self

There's a Cosmic Spaghetti Monster
lurking on your dinner plate,
right next to your meatballs,
winking

blips

of an unknown origin
appear
on your computer screen
syncopated rhythms swirl
within your foxfire mind

you think one day you'll find the answer
even if
you're not quite sure
what you're searching for, and for
all those leap-frogging contests
you had forgotten you entered,

far be it from me to expose all those
dirty little secrets you have hidden in
your left breast pocket,

your tell-tale heart is beating
loud enough for creation
itself to hear.

Interesting choice of

Interesting choice of inspiration, Anna. A lapsed Catholic - now agnostic - the metaphors in this piece are intelligent and clever. All of those tiny "blips" that we catch from the corners of our eyes and cannot explain. Nice writing. ~ Ronda

REally almost fell off my seat laughing!

(I wear a seatbelt these days cos so many wonderful NeoPoets do that to me) I hope you don't mind the comparison but you remind me of my own poetry where I can say something funny with a very serious intent. Yes, I got the very serious intent. cheers, Jess

I love when that happens

I love when that happens Jess.... I knew you'd understand... did you check out the actual wiki story of the C.S.M.? And I'd be tempted to say that many of us poets are peas in a pod...say the same things in our own unique, quirky and adorable way. ;-) Love. ~A

we are all peas in a very strange shaped pod!

All busting loose in different directions. I knew what you were talking about but checked the link anyway. Teaching creationism in school is like saying new babies are brought in a storks beak. More than just silly, bloody criminal endangerment of human minds. Luckily I don't live live in a country or state the perpetuates such stupidity, but trust me, if I did I would be on the frontlines for truth! cheers, Jess

In a nondual sense, however,

In a nondual sense, however, IT IS true. We all create who we are moment by moment, having been dropped by that proverbial stork on our heads. lol. Have a great weekend Jess. ~Anna

Well I can't be sure

could have been a stork, I don't remember, they say us Kiwis invented bungie jumping by jumping off the table before the umbilical cord was cut. But if they tried to teach in schools that a stalk brought us, rather than the pretty intelligent and logical scientific concept of evolution I would seriously consider taking up guns against the liars. This from a man who has never shot a gun in his life, wielded a knife except in self defense and hurled half-bricks only at god. cheers, Jess

It is funny though, Jess.

It is funny though, Jess. Wouldn't put it pass someone or another to call the first talking ape, Adam... however, Eve had to come first... you know that giving birth thingy. ;-) Cheerios Kiwi, I love kiwis almost as much as mangoes. ~A

Eggs or chickens? reminds

Eggs or chickens? reminds me of the story about contribution. The chicken and pig were talking..about contributions they make to breakfast on the table. The chicken lays an egg... The pig is slaughtered. Both made contributions. ;-)

Are you Phychic?

Alot of what is in this poem feels so close.Like you could look out a window and see me on a day in my life.Let me explain:1 I love spagetti and my sister made a big spagetti dinner not to long ago. After the dinner we watched the new Incredible Hulk Movie hmmm Spagetti Dinner Monster Movie 2 Not to long ago I was invited to a church I went and liked my first experience there but lately I've been feeling like maybe that's not the place for me Cause I don't really know my true reason for going or rather in your words what I was looking for 3 I bought a mega millions ticket and after purchasing it I put it in my left breast pocket of the button up shirt I was wearing.I then took that shirt off and put on the fresh black tee shirt I just purchased.Leaving the lottery ticket in that pocket almost forgetting but somewhere something told me I don't usually play numbers.Even though that day was going so good for me that I felt like luck was on my side.Have you ever felt lucky? 4 Tell Tale heart easily summarized as Mr. Edgar Allen is one of my favorite poets and we both called the city of Baltimore home.I'm also a Raven fan for life The football team and the poem Maybe a little bit too much information huh... Sorry Peace and Love Rolwright
