Soundalikes: Thistle Pigeon

Soundalikes: Thistle Pigeon

At times to hear is
the same as not to.

                               ---barbsdad

When thistle pigeon
Plots a mission,

He schemes so valiantly---

But whinny angles, fission,
His patience, worn lean
By longsome execution,

Sends him back to r'ality.

(thistle = this old; pigeon =
person;
whinny = when he;
fission = fishin'; r'ality =
reality)

I liked this

It reminds me of an old sign in a fast food joint when I was a teenager. You got a free soda if you could decipher it. let me see. Seville dere dago tousin busis inaro nojo dems trux summit cowsin summit dux (see Will, there they go. thousand busses in a row. No Joe, thems trucks, some with cows and some with ducks.) I enjoyed it. Rett: They say that money talks. Sadly, my wallet has laryngitis!

Hi Chuck!

I see your brilliantly convoluted mind has been working overtime! Thanks for the translation, I enjoyed the read. I hope that all is well with Buster? Always, Cat

Thanx

Full import, I think, of this piece can be garnered best by a cleverly muttered-aloud read of its original, unaltered-by-translation state to someone but slightly hard of hearing. (It'll prob'ly be received just fine---i.e., "just fine" as properly translated with the aid of its follow-up parenthetical assistance.) Buster is one helluva happy duck. His happiness, so evident, brings us lasting pleasure. (And he's always happy to be inquired about. Of course.) Thanx all, Chuck PS: I should add here that I think "longsome" is so soundalike to "lonesome," it'll likely be (mis)heard as that word. Little-used, older words tend to morph into more current lingo when but marginally heard.

Thanks for the fish…Now,

Thanks for the fish... Now, could someone decipher how the f. gas is 4.10 & more and several billion people are not doing something about it...but complain, bitch & moan... I've heard there's power in numbers and I've heard that one little brown man brought down the English empire in India. I think we became sheep in the 70's when we bought the *oil shortage*. Just one day... if everyone stayed home. And bought no gas, went nowhere (except for emergency vehicles and such). Just one day to make a statement and say we're mad as hell and ain't gonna take it anymore. I'm gonna start a movement towards that day. Anna

Sorry to agree with you ...

in slighting poor sheep, but I'd add that we became sort of robotically sheeplike well prior to the '70s; and it's only gotten worse ever since. I've been looking for your touted f. gas. So far haven't found it. I'm hopeful that when I do, it's at least a tad cheaper than the regular I've been putting in the tank of a vehicle that the operator's manual says to use premium. The price of gas seems to follow the dictum of "onward and upward" quite fanatically (religiously?). I guess that all in all ... we ain't seen nuthin' yet. Just wait'll next year (and the year after, if there is one). My crystal ball says the Great Depression was a cakewalk compared to what's now coming down the proverbial pike. Don't blink; you might miss any sign of serious government help in these regards. Yours, Chuck PS: BTW, don't bother explaining f. gas for me. I know very well that it refers to fegular as in "fegular gas."
