Michael's Poem ~ Turtles and Curses Filled My Mirror, My Hands
...I broke my mirror
set free the nightingale's song...
~~~~
I saw a turtle's reflection
in the mirror
this morning..
(Was I pleading?)
I used to be a snail,
a shell had formed
around my slimey foot,
eons of time
were windows of perception,
unable to imagine
my colourless tomb,
forever silent
but for the sound
of breaking glass.
What spell is this?
Whose curse is upon my lips?
I sold my Soul
for a poem.
I sold my Love
for a poem.
I sold my Heart
for a poem.
I have nothing
left to sell
but this poem.
Take it, it's yours
I am done with it.
set free the nightingale's song...
